The Customer Support Engineer helps customers enhance the productivity of their laboratory processes and drives high levels of customer satisfaction by performing maintenance, repair and validations of Spectroscopy instrumentation. The Customer Support Engineer represents the face of PerkinElmer to the customer and fosters business expansion by providing ‘best-in-class’ responsiveness and professionalism in all customer interactions. This also includes key account expansion, sale of new maintenance contracts, upgrades, training and instrument sales leads. Key responsibilities include:



Installation, Maintenance & Repair: Install, maintain, verifiy performance and repair equipment at customer sites ensuring best-in-class service within established time frame and assigned geographical area or site. Drive toward zero service recalls. Completes assigned preventive maintenance calls at customer sites within prescribed time frame and established performance standards. Provide scheduled preventative maintenance for contract customers, remedial maintenance for non-contract customers billed at an hourly rate and all warranty services, which apply to our products in the field. Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to the Installation, warranty, and service contract provisions to provide adequate billing information to the customer.

Salary/Benefits: First year base compensation of $70,000 - $80,000, plus overtime and bonus potential, along with a generous benefits package. Company will provide you with a company car which you will take home with you and can utilize on your offer time, as well as a laptop, cell phone and all the tools required for the job. Position Description: Field Service Technician

Salary: $60-62k plus 10-15% typical O/T and another 5% available if you desire it – (Total W2 $71-80k)
Shift: Standard M-F
Note – On call on a weekly rotation with flexibility to switch with other FST’s. If called out you are guaranteed 4 hours at 1.5x your compensation, or 6 hours on holidays.
Location: Albany, NY
The technician must solve a variety of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and process control problems. The technician makes decisions which require coordination of interrelated tasks. The employee develops conceptual solutions to moderately difficult, non-routine issues/problems and provides guidance on technical leadership of projects.

Field Service Technicians are trained and mentored as they develop knowledge and skills. The employee is also supported with supervision, lead technicians, engineers, sales and other technical staff. Occasionally the technician will travel to locations outside the assigned area to support other plants and for training.

Responsibilities:
? Maintain all Safety, Quality, and Compliance activities at each plant location
? Start up, shutdown, and operate the production processes.
? Perform routine maintenance and calibrations on a variety of process equipment including centrifugal and compressors, gas analyzers, control systems, electrical systems and process control valves
? Trouble shoot and repair defective equipment, electrical components, and production processes
? Time management
? Planning and executing operations and maintenance tasks for assigned plants
? Purchasing of materials and/or services such as contractors
? Monthly plant billing
? Documentation, reports, and other administrative duties
Qualifications:
• Associate's degree in a technical field preferred, or Navy Nuclear candidates
• 2 - 5 years of experience is highly desirable in many of the following fields:
o Air separation or similar complex process control function
o Instrumentation and control
o General maintenance of industrial equipment
o Compressors and compressor maintenance
o Industrial mechanical maintenance
o Industrial electrical or electrician
o Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC)
o Military technical fields; Machinist Mates, Electrician Mates, Gas Turbine Technicians, and Boiler Technicians
• Dependable and honest
• Safety commitment and compliance with procedures
• Driver’s license with clean record
• Trouble shooting and diagnostics
• Use volt-ohm meters, calibration devices, and data collectors
