• Wire all controls and motors for water tube and firetube boilers and auxiliary equipment.
• Rebuild control valves and regulators.
• Build and test control panel, fuel skids, condensate tanks and deaerators using wiring schematic and layout.
• Trim out firetube and water tube boilers.
• Perform start-up of rental boilers in field.
• Read blueprints and wiring schematics.
• Troubleshoot, fire, & set combustion on boilers, including super heaters, superheaters, and economizers.
• Determine valve trim, regulator size & spring, oil gun length & size, & parts needed to fire any boiler.
• Fire and set combustion on boiler with all types of pneumatic, electrical controls.
• Train other employees on the operation and controls of boilers.
• Maintain condition of and inventory of all tools and monitors.
• Apply intellect, creativity, adaptability, judgment, and management skills to achieve required results.
• Complete duties efficiently and cost-effectively & support peers/management on projects.

Position Details:
Locations: Elk Grove, IL (Chicagoland); Geneseo, IL (Quad Cites); Des Moines, IA; Lenexa, KS (Kansas City)
Travel/Territory: 60% of the time you’ll be in/out same day. Occasional overnight stay max up to a week. If job is greater than 60 miles away typically requires overnight stay. Primarily will cover 250-mile radius; on rare occasion will support another regional job within a 5-state footprint. Typically start 7am daily in the shop then dispatch. You will have a company vehicle completely outfitted with tools for all service work and travels.
Pay: Starting base rate + 1.5X O/T pay after 40 hours/week + pay increases with increased proficiency and development through Tech. levels (1-4), which is self-paced and up to the individual employee. Starting rates:
• $25-29/hr. for trainees, who will on average take 6-months to pass self-paced boiler room essentials class, which includes basic skills and assessments using company methodology.
• $30-$34/hr. Level 1, understands combustion, troubleshoot interlocks, read & wire based off schematic, troubleshoot in absence of schematics, can do planned boiler maintenance, knows steam.
• $35-$40/hr. Level 2
• $40-$48/hr. Level 3
• $48-$52/hr. Level 4, which is the equivalent of 6+ years of service at the company

Requirements: Candidates must have at least 1-2 years of boiler or similar power/utility experience on the electrical and control systems with a good foundation in electronics and controls, schematics, voltmeters, sensors, and instrumentation who are critical thinkers and outstanding complex problem-solvers, have good operation and control experience. Candidates must be team-players, dedicated, and detail-oriented with outstanding customer service and a solid driving record. This position is a great fit for transitioning or former Navy nuclear candidates and candidates who have knowledge & experience on boiler controls & auxiliary equipment and possess and solid electrical & mechanical background. Any weld experience is a plus. They will teach boilers and mechanical skills.
