Job Description

The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for overseeing all production activities to maximize profit contributions while ensuring alignment with company goals. This role requires strong interpersonal, managerial, organizational, and computer skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities:
? Direct oversight of Production Team Leads and Supervisors
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide hands-on leadership in daily operations, ensuring timely and error-free order production
  • Oversee production planning, staffing, and scheduling, driving motivation in a deadline-driven
    environment
  • Hire, train, supervise, mentor, and discipline department supervisors to support team performance
  • Debug operational challenges and proactively resolve production issues
  • Develop and mentor production supervisors, leads and hourly employees
  • Implement workplace safety protocols, training, and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Support preventive maintenance efforts to ensure optimal equipment functionality
  • Identify and recommend efficiency improvements to minimize waste (Rework, Scrap, Returns, etc.)
  • Drive improvements in on-time delivery performance, labor efficiency and cost reduction
  • Ensure job assignments align with company capabilities and production strengths
  • Oversee facility organization (5S) and Lean Manufacturing practices
  • Report workplace injuries and unsafe conditions to regulatory agencies
  • Conduct internal audits and ensure compliance with AS9100D policies and procedures
  • Provide customer service support and travel to customer sites as needed
  • Maintain expert knowledge of Shields Manufacturing’s capabilities and processes
  • Perform additional duties as required or directed

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Maintain customer-specific documentation and actively participate in customer visits and audits.
  • Track variances between estimated and actual costs, evaluating the accuracy of cost estimation parameters.
  • Present strategic process improvements to senior management, focusing on efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Make recommendations for manufacturing process enhancements to optimize quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • The Engineering manager shall set the example for what quality service is in a Viper Northwest system. They shall conform to and work to improve our quality management system through standardization of
    operations.
