Position Description
As a Relay Technician, your responsibilities will include:
• Apply manufacturers' instructions for testing, adjusting, and maintaining equipment.
• Read and analyze AC and DC prints and test results.
• Install, acceptance test, repair, and investigate questionable operations, of all types of relays, instrument transformers, telemetering equipment, load control equipment, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) equipment, and oscillographic equipment.
• Execute the necessary switching operations in accordance with a duly authorized switching order.
• Set, test, calibrate, adjust, and repair all types of protective relays.
• Perform all necessary system operational tests to insure proper functional performance of complete protection, control, telemetering, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
• Be required to work overtime on an as needed basis and participate in the company’s Emergency Restoration Program.
• Operate a motor vehicle.

Position Requirements
• Associate degree from an accredited college in Electrical Technology or equivalent military training and experience is required. Must provide a copy of your degree, a copy of your official college transcript, or military certifications and pass a written screening exam to be considered for this position.
• Possess a valid New York State motor operator’s license.
• Capable of preparing written reports and sketches, able to discriminate as to circuits and equipment clearances in order to safely perform the work.
• Capable of working on energized equipment without causing interruptions to service.

Job Description

Position Description: Field Service Technician

Field Services Technician will provide service, maintenance and warranty remediation and commissioning for installed systems. This position will be responsible for servicing customers located primarily in New York and/or California. Must be able to travel to Louisiana, Texas and Canada as well on a temporary basis as needed. Many locations are in remote areas with limited facilities, cell service and often dessert like conditions. Some knowledge in working in this type of location/environment will prove useful.

Conduct annual periodic maintenance inspections on company systems

Keep maintenance records of findings
Assist with developing maintenance programs
Perform Field Service on company systems to ensure 97% or better up time

Diagnose and repair faulted inverters and plant controllers
Troubleshoot issues with mechanical and electromechanical
Perform start-up and commissioning for new system installations.

Inspect physical installation (wiring, connections and mechanical condition)
Power up, set all required parameters and ensure proper operation
Monitor performance and efficiency levels
Maintain high customer satisfaction levels by providing excellent customer service.

Provide accurate and timely product service reports.



Position Details:

Location: Syracuse, NY

Travel Requirements: Approximately 50% overnight travel (probably a little less; about half the time you will service customers in the Rochester/Syracuse, NY area, and the other 50% of the time out of state at one of their other customers). The goal is to minimize the travel, so you will likely service customers in the Eastern half of the US and occasionally Canada, most of the time. The weeks that you are traveling will normally be Monday through Thursday / Monday through Friday in duration.

Supervisory: In this position, you will have minimal supervisory responsibilities; however, self-leadership is a must. You will interface with customers and much of your work is done with great autonomy.

As a Utilities Generation & Distribution Systems Operator with, you will be responsible for the operations and maintenance on industrial water, boilers, compressed air, and steam distribution systems within Eastman Business Park. This would include, but not limited to starting and stopping all equipment as well as making adjustments as need to on line units both manually and via the DCS system and unloading of several types of chemicals. All while following company procedures to maintain a safe workplace and comply with a regulatory requirement.

The best candidates will be outstanding current or former technicians with experience in boiler and steam distribution.
