KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

  • Maintain shop area cleanliness by use of floor cleaning machine, broom, and mop
  • Ensure outside entrances and sidewalks are kept clean and during inclement weather, clear off any buildup of snow or ice

  • Keep abreast and understand emergency plans for hazardous waste spills.
  • Ensure all company's policies regarding the safe handling of hazardous material are followed.
  • Perform walk around inspection of Service Department vehicles daily
  • Ensure all service department vehicles are kept fueled
  • Ensure all service department vehicles kept clean, inside and out
  • Participate in the pickup/delivery of customer vehicles and service supplies/parts
  • Adheres to all service regulations in regard to driving
  • All other duties as assigned by manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license or CDL class B with air brakes preferred.

Body Shop Technician

Summit Truck Group is searching for an experienced commercial vehicle painter to join our North Little Rock, AR team as a Body Shop Technician. Your primary role will be responsible for sanding, prepping and painting Heavy Duty Trucks.

You will use your skills as an experienced Body Shop Technician and Painter to repair or replace damaged body parts back to pre-accident condition within factory and dealership specifications. Your focus on quality repair to meet or exceed the original factory fit and finish will provide an end result that is an invisible repair.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review each repair order, work order, and estimator's notes to understand repairs needed prior to beginning work on the vehicle.
  • Properly mix paint according to specifications for paint to spray evenly and consistently
  • Sand and prep equipment and components for priming and painting
  • Assemble and disassemble vehicles in preparation for repair and painting
  • Repair fiberglass damage and bodywork in a quality fashion
  • Paint surfaces using sprayer or brush as appropriate.
  • Perform a final quality check and review of work order prior to sending the vehicle to the detail department.
  • Operate and use all body shop equipment properly & safely.
  • Ensure and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Ensure hazardous material is stored and discarded properly.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED; any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 3+ year commercial vehicle painting experience in body shop environment
  • Knowledge of heavy truck paint and their safety requirements
  • Knowledge of welding, heavy-duty suspensions, mechanical repairs, metal fabrication, hydraulic and electrical equipment systems.
  • Valid driver's license
  • CDL and DOT medical card preferred
  • Must provide own tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Attend training classes and keep abreast of factory technical bulletins
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Responsible for the overall performance of the parts department.
