Essential Functions Statement(s)/Skills Required:

  • Perform inspections on all parts, assemblies, and fabrications as specified on drawings and route cards; record results of the inspection and indicate disposition.
  • Set-up assemblies and perform dimensional inspections using scales, tape measure, layout and optical equipment, and other hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth gages.
  • When performing dimensional inspections of parts machined by outside vendors, review Purchase Order to ensure all requirements have been met.
  • Review procedures to determine process requirements, and requirements for other associated processes such as tube rolling, hydro-testing, cleaning, and painting, and assess whether the requirements have been satisfactorily performed. Report results.
  • Conduct audits of manufacturing operations including identification of material and identification of welding operator qualifications. Audit drawing control and adhere to work instructions and procedures.
  • Perform surveillance on material identification in the shop and in stores; insure segregation of scrap material from material in-process.
  • In receiving inspection, work closely with shipper and receiver to ensure that all requirements and specifications are met.
  • Maintain calibration program for company inspection equipment, tools and personally owned gages.
  • Visit vendor facilities to audit capabilities and to perform inspections of vendor work.
  • Work with customer representatives and/or Government Inspectors to review customer inspection points as assigned.
  • Maintain inspection records and documentation files as required.
  • When necessary, travel to investigate customer reported PDS problem.
  • When applicable, verify any corrections made to company products in the field are in conformance with contract requirements.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: High School Graduate, or the equivalent, with additional instruction in NDT and/or Dimensional Inspection. Completion of an apprenticeship program is desirable.

Experience: Minimum of two years of NDE and/or Dimensional Inspection experience in an industrial environment.

Other Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have thorough knowledge of NDE and/or dimensional inspection principles and their application to industrial inspection problems.

Description

Granite State Manufacturing (GSM) is seeking an experienced Class A CNC Lathe Operator to join our precision machining team on the 2nd shift. This role supports the U.S. Navy submarine program and other mission-critical defense platforms, producing large, complex, precision components in a high-reliability manufacturing environment.

About the Role

As a Class A CNC Lathe Operator, you will independently set up, program, and operate advanced CNC turning centers and vertical turning lathes (VTLs). You will perform first-piece inspections, troubleshoot machining challenges, and ensure strict adherence to AS9100, NAVSEA, and customer standards.

GSM operates Doosan VTLs, Mori SL and CL2000 lathes, Okuma LB4000 EX II, ProtoTRAK, and DMG Mori platforms in a high-mix, large-part production environment.

What You'll Do

  • Independently set up and operate CNC turning centers and VTLs
  • Review process plans, blueprints, and GD&T specifications
  • Perform first-piece inspections and verify dimensions using precision instruments
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust tool offsets as needed
  • Machine large, complex components from various materials
  • Collaborate with Quality and Engineering to resolve nonconformances
  • Support and mentor Class B and C operators
  • Maintain 5S standards, tooling integrity, and proper documentation
  • Partner with Planning and Supervision to execute work IAW production schedule

Must-Have Skills and Experience

  • Proficiency with Fanuc, Okuma OSP, or ProtoTRAK controls
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge
  • Experience using precision measurement tools
  • Ability to machine large and complex components
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet production goals
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality standards

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in defense or aerospace machining environments
  • Experience working within AS9100 quality systems
  • Background in large-part, high-mix machining operations
  • Experience mentoring or training junior operators

Solder Assembler - (2nd Shift 2:30pm-12:00am) - Phoenix AZ

Mercury Systems is looking for a top performer to help complete a variety of tasks relating to production operations on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies. To be successful, you will need to demonstrate professionalism, leadership and initiative in your daily activities, with excellent inter-personal and communication skills both oral and written.

This is a 2nd shift opportunity, daily hours will be from 2:30pm to 12:00am and overtime is available and encouraged.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, assemble, and inspect electronic components during product assembly, per documented work instructions.
  • Interpreting Job Routers, written instructions, wiring diagrams and schematic drawings for assembly of electronics.
  • Performing a variety of inspections to ensure assemblies meet/exceed IPC standards.
  • Performing pass downs with outgoing/incoming shifts. Using hand and/or power tools and jigs.
  • Modifying, soldering, reworking, repairing assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications, drawings, and work instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned by Lead or Supervisor.

Must Have:

  • Must have meticulous hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Typically 3-5+ years of electronics assembly and inspection experience with in-process soldering (both through hole and surface mount).
  • Must be able to work for extended hours utilizing a microscope to perform inspection and solder touch-ups.
  • Hand soldering experience is required. Knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic discharge) procedures.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Good to Have:

  • Rework/repair, wire attach, and mechanical assembly.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to multitask. IPC-610, J-STD-001 and 7711/7721 certification preferred.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule in order to meet production and customer needs.
  • 10 plus years related experience is preferred.
