Description
We are seeking a skilled Facility Operations Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and reliability of critical infrastructure within a high-performance computing and data center environment. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal performance of electrical, mechanical, and environmental systems that support mission-critical equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting abilities, experience with critical facility systems, and a commitment to maintaining high uptime and operational standards.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
- 3+ years of experience working in critical facilities, data centers, industrial facilities, or other mission-critical environments
- Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills involving power distribution, HVAC systems, and facility equipment
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and building management systems (BMS)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-availability environment
Requirements
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot critical facility infrastructure including electrical distribution systems, UPS systems, generators, and cooling equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on mechanical and electrical systems
- Respond to alarms, outages, and emergency situations to minimize downtime
- Support operation and maintenance of HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, CRAC/CRAH units, and environmental systems
- Maintain maintenance logs and operational documentation
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for installations, repairs, and upgrades
- Assist with capacity planning, system optimization, and reliability improvements
- Follow safety protocols and regulatory requirements in a critical infrastructure environment
- Participate in on-call rotations and emergency response support when required
Nice-to-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
- Experience working in data center or high-performance computing environments
- Knowledge of UPS systems, switchgear, PDUs, ATS/STS, generators, and electrical distribution
- Experience working with cooling infrastructure such as chillers, pumps, and HVAC systems
- Technical certification, trade school training, or military technical training related to electrical, mechanical, or facilities maintenance
