  • Essential. Responsible. Chemistry. Chemours is a Great Place to Build a Career

Every Chemours employee understands that they are contributing to something greater than themselves, and they take pride in the profound impact they make. Regardless of their role, they are part of a dynamic team known for tackling the world’s toughest challenges and making the world a better place. Chemours’ commitment to responsible chemistry is reflected in its vibrant workplace, a place where employees can meet their full potential and make a meaningful difference. There’s no wonder Chemours is certified by Great Place to Work® in 10 countries.

Chemours is Committed to Creating an Inspired, Innovative, and Inclusive Workplace

Inclusion is a cornerstone, not just a catchphrase at Chemours. The company truly believes its strength lies in its people and that this is enhanced by diversity. They’re devoted to inclusion and building a diverse global workforce. Chemours’ 2030 CRC Goals include 50% of director-level positions and above filled with women, 35% of all global positions filled with women, and 30% of all US positions filled with ethnically diverse employees.

“There are programs out there for you to be the driver of your own career and aspirations,” says Stacey Savage, Senior EHS Specialist at Chemours, “I have worked for a few major oil & gas companies in the past, but I have never felt more at home than where I’m at with Chemours.”

Chemours is committed to building up a new generation of talent. One example of this is that Chemours manufacturing sites partner with local community colleges and trade schools to create apprenticeship opportunities and develop degree opportunities preparing students for a career in operations.

In addition, Chemours recruits top talent from colleges and universities, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Celebrating black employees and scholars who are making “Chemhistory” by shaping a better world through the power of chemistry is a campaign that extends far beyond Black History Month. Chemours recognizes that while 13% of the US population identifies as black, only 4% of senior executive positions are held by black Americans. In addition, black women hold only 5% of managerial positions at STEM companies despite the fact that numerous black women pursue STEM degrees. Sharing the stories and successes of black professionals helps others to see a career in engineering, chemistry, or other STEM categories as achievable.

Chemours is committed to creating a workplace that welcomes people from all backgrounds. “All of our initiatives funnel up through creating an inclusive environment, rather than just being a checklist of numbers that we need to hit each year,” says Baily Willems, Talent Acquisition Specialist at Chemours.

Chemours’ Incredible ERGs

Chemours also fosters inclusion through its active network of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). A place for employees to connect and share experiences. Their current ERGs include Chemours Asian Group (CAG), Chemours Black Employees Network (CBEN), Chemours Latin American Resource Organization (CLARO), Chemours Women’s Network (CWN), Early Career Network (ECN), Pride Chemours LGBTQA+ Network, VetNet Veteran’s Network.

A few amazing things Chemours’ ERGs accomplished in 2022 include:

  • Chemours Women’s Network grew to 22 sites in 9 countries. They partnered with Scholarship America to award three Future of Chemistry Scholarships totaling $30,000.
  • The Early Career Network grew its membership to more than 200 members. It added chapters at 6 sites and reinitiated quarterly lunch and learns to allow young professionals at various sites to network.
  • The Veteran’s Network volunteered to unpack, prepare, and lay 30,000 wreaths at Veteran gravesites for the holidays.

“The diverse culture at Chemours leads us to have a more well-rounded view of our workplace and our global responsibilities,” says Susan Bozza, TTS Site Engineering Manager at Chemours, “Chemours is a great place to work with a culture of caring for each other and the environment. We support and promote each other to be the best version of ourselves.”

A Great Place to Build a Career

A global chemical company with approximately 6,600 employees and 29 manufacturing sites serving 2,900 customers in 120 countries, Chemours is highly ranked by its employees as a Great Place to Work. In fact, a recent survey indicated that 78% of Chemours’ employees feel a sense of pride when they look at what the company accomplishes, 78% said they want to work for the company for a long time, and 83% of employees say that they were made to feel welcome when they joined the company.

Chemours is committed to encouraging women to shape the future of chemistry and empowering younger generations to explore science through STEM education. Three incredible Chemours employees sat down with Orion’s Steve Amsden for the #PeoplewithPurpose Podcast to discuss their career journeys that led them to a career in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) at Chemours. Listening to this episode is the perfect way to celebrate International Women and Girls in Science Day on February 11th. Chemours celebrates women in science, their accomplishments, and how their innovation is shaping the future.
