Today marks Veterans Day, a federal holiday to commemorate and honor all those who have served in the US military. The holiday coincides with Armistice Day, which is celebrated in other parts of the world to honor the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I, ending hostilities at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.

The newly released Global Employment - 2Q 2019 report from Orion Novotus and HRO Today Magazine reveals a global economy that is expected to expand, but less than previous years. The report is designed to provide global labor market intelligence employers can use to inform critical decisions.

Ninety percent of all data stored on servers today within data centers has been created in the last few years. As we enter the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the data center industry is one of the fastest growing in America today. According to the report Data Centers: Global Industry Outlook & Forecast 2018-2023, “the increasing focus in the adoption of advanced technologies such as cloud-based services and IoT will augment the growth of the global data center market.” This growth is well illustrated in Virginia, where Loudon County Economic Development reports planned projects to add 4.5 million square feet of new data center flooring to its nearly 13.5 million square feet currently in operation.

If you listen to the news at all, you have undoubtedly heard the dreaded R-word being used. There is much debate about whether the US economy is, in fact, entering a recession or if it is all talk. The fact remains, however, that there are increasing predictions that we will enter one by 2021. According to the National Association for Business Economics August 2019 Economic Policy Survey, respondents anticipating a recession will begin in 2021 has increased from 25% in February to 34% in August.
