The Best Cities to Find Work in 2018

Best cities for jobs

Are you transitioning out of the military and looking for a new civilian career? If you are considering relocating for a new career, read on to learn more about this year’s best cities to find work in the U.S. WalletHub compared data from 182 different cities in the U.S. with two key dimensions in mind: “job market” and “socioeconomic”. They then judged these dimensions using 26 different metrics including “job opportunities”, “unemployment rate”, “median annual income”, and “average commute time,” resulting in a total score out of 100 possible points.

2018 is shaping up to be a record-setting year, with unemployment reaching its lowest point in a couple of decades. Depending on the city, about a third of employers will be looking to add manpower this year.

Here is a list of a few of the companies that exclusively hire military through Orion, and a sample of positions for which we are recruiting, in the best cities to find jobs in 2018.

There were many factors that went into WalletHub’s rankings, and you can view all 182 cities and their positions here.

According to Your Peers

Orion Talent

"My Orion Recruiter worked closely with me and he was, without a doubt, unbelievable to work with! He had my intentions/needs as a first priority and I never felt like he was just trying to 'land me a job' to get paid. He worked diligently to put me in a geographic location I wanted and had my family as number one priority as well. A BIG shout-out to him: Thank you!

I worked with 4 major recruiting firms, plus a local private and local nonprofit firm, and Orion was definitely the best! I recommend Orion to all my friends who are thinking of getting out!" - Jake Ringrose, Systems Controls Account Manager

"I was an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Captain in the U.S. Army. I was pleasantly surprised to realize that my leadership experience easily translated to corporate America. In my newest role, I love the fact that a lot of the science-based information and concepts that I learned in EOD school were actively utilized in the pharmaceutical industry.

I felt throughout my time working with Orion, their staff actually listened to my concerns, and my ambitions. Other companies that I worked with didn't acknowledge my goals. Thanks, Orion! I am hoping this opportunity lasts a lifetime!" - Kevin Campomi, Process Engineer

"I would highly recommend Orion. I was able to secure an interesting job, with a great salary and in the Northeast region that I desired. I attended one hiring conference in Providence RI. I had approx. four interviews that day at the conference. I had a follow up onsite interview a few weeks later with my current employer and received my official job offer shortly after.

Overall excellent service and I could not have been more pleased." - John Johnson, Internal Quality Clinic Manager
