As a Training Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering high quality solutions training for Specialists, Field Technicians, Field Engineers, and / or customers. You will function as an expert in providing technical support in the delivery of training programs to meet the skill competencies of the learners. In this role, you are responsible for delivering learning solutions in both classroom and electronic environments assisting internal employees and external customers to achieve specific learning objectives. You will be expected to become a subject matter expert on all of the equipment and services the company offers to clients across the United States. You will deliver training to customers as they prepare to launch their new system ensuring they fully understand the applications, installation, and operation of all components of their system. You are responsible for ensuring the customers are fully prepared to use and maintain their system after you end your training. You will teach material on the individual pieces of the system as well as the overall system itself. Some of these systems will include controls for heating, ventilation, air conditioning, cooling, lighting, blinds, and a wide variety of other components for both commercial and residential customers. Once you have developed a strong teaching foundation, you will progress from training only customers and begin training company technicians, field engineers, and project managers.
As a Training Specialist, you will be expected to work without direct supervision, and you will be required to test product functionality in course training exercises for revised course materials to accommodate new software and hardware functionality. Your management team must be able to trust you to visit customers around the country, on your own, and know that you are providing the best portrayal of the company. You need to ensure that the training happens despite many obstacles that may come in your way; audio/visual issues at the customer site, inclement weather delays, and any various other issues that you will encounter. You will be expected to make decisive decisions without calling back to the boss. You will be expected to review and understand all training material prior to conducting the training for a customer, ensure all products function properly in the training labs, and staying abreast of all product upgrades in the field. You will need to remain up to date on all service strategies, design engineering best practices, installation, startup, and troubleshooting techniques to ensure your customer receives the newest information.
Location: Buffalo Grove, IL (Chicago suburb); you MUST live within a reasonable commuting distance
Salary: ~$65K-$73K base salary
Travel: You can expect to be gone from home 60-70% of the year, leaving on Monday and returning on Friday; when you are not on the road, you will be in the Buffalo Grove office.

Career Progression: This is a position that you will typically be required to hold for ~3 years before moving into another role on the training team. At that time you can become a Senior Trainer in the field, move to a role directly tied to curriculum development, or move into other roles with the training group or the company overall.
