Description:

  • The position supports mission-critical environments, particularly large data centers, and requires strong electrical field experience.
  • Responsibilities include installation, testing, commissioning, and start-up of Siemens Low Voltage (480V) and Medium Voltage (4160V) equipment. Responsibilities may also include troubleshooting, maintenance, training, and consulting.
  • This position may be called on to support Greenfield & Brownfield unit installations and commissioning activities throughout Siemens/USA.

Travel:
This position is in long-term support of a datacenter customer. Travel is possible in this position in support of other customers, but this is not a regular occurrence. When you travel, you could expect to drive 6-8 hours to another customer site or you could expect to fly to a site that might be even farther.


Requirements:

  • 4+ years of directly related equipment experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of power distribution systems required
  • Experience with low and medium voltage Switchgear
  • Knowledge and/or experience with breakers or high voltage equipment testing, including analyzing test results and equipment condition assessment
  • Experience in troubleshooting & repair of electrical control circuits
  • Must be available to respond for emergency and relief assignments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Must be familiar with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) safety practices and perform duties within specified guidelines to ensure safety of self and supporting crew

As a System Specialist I or II you will be installing, maintaining and troubleshooting industrial and commercial Building Automation Systems. You will become the resident expert on the Building Automation System that integrates the following systems through a graphics interface program using the Insight software package:

You will become an expert on computer information systems, electronic controls and mechanical systems. Siemens Smart Infrastructure is a performance-based company, which means they will evaluate you based on performance not time in grade. As a System Specialist II, you will have leadership responsibilities and will be training Specialist I levels. Your career progression is into a project engineer or project manager role and then into operational management. What you will do for Siemens Smart Infrastructure: *Please note that travel expectations of up to 50% will be expected during the first year of employment*.

  • Assist with commissioning new distributed digital control systems on construction sites within planned timelines. Document commissioning details; communicate deficiencies and progress

  • Submit accurate time and expense reports
  • Work overtime when needed (Compressed schedule performance can be a factor and will require extended hours to meet commitments)
  • Work Rotational On-Call and/or Minimal Overnight Travel
  • Adhere to local, corporate, and OSHA safety policies and procedures


Qualifications:

  • Electro-mechanical experience (either in a previous role or through education) and user PC/software skill
  • Ability and willingness to work in a variety of circumstances, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in various conditions
  • Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet as well as able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Fire/Life Safety Service Technicians play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our Smart Buildings. You will be responsible for the service and maintenance of commercial fire alarm and sprinkler systems. This includes performing service, repairs, and inspections associated with fire alarm and sprinkler systems and other water-based equipment in accordance with all national and local standards. You will ensure components are inspected, tested, operated, and maintained according to the customer's operational requirements. In addition to your primary responsibilities, you will also act as a mentor, providing on-the-job training to entry level fire alarm inspectors, fostering a culture of growth and knowledge-sharing within our team. Why is this so important? Our Fire/Life Safety Service Technician's specialized skills, knowledge surround state/federal regulations, and commitment to proper system functioning play a critical role in safeguarding lives, property, and businesses from the devastating effects of fires.

As a Fire/Life Safety Service Technician, you will:

  • Execute comprehensive testing and inspections for systems under maintenance agreements and create detailed test and inspection reports based on code requirements and customer needs
  • Swiftly respond to, troubleshoot, and complete necessary repairs to maintain system functionality. Report on activities completed, deferred, or requiring further action or material
  • Code Compliance: Identify code and non-conformance issues, ensuring adherence to required standards
  • Quote small repair jobs and provide detailed parts and labor requirements to estimators and sales for large repair projects
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge fire sprinkler systems, standpipes, backflow preventers, fire hydrants, and fire pumps
  • Perform fire sprinkler, fire pump and other water-based equipment inspections and testing
  • Properly document deficiencies/impairments noted during inspections or service work and follow required process of reporting deficiencies while on-site
  • Adhere to local, corporate, and OSHA safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation of all work performed
  • Maintain vehicle stock, tools, and equipment. Follow corporate policies related to vehicle use and care
  • Mentor lower-level Fire/Life Safety Service Technicians
  • While this position is located out of our Morristown, NJ office, frequent travel to New York City will be required.


Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience in the installation and/or maintenance of commercial Fire Alarm or Sprinkler Systems
  • Technician endorsement for automatic sprinkler system maintenance inspection
  • NICET I in inspection and testing of water-based systems or water-based layout
  • Must obtain NICET Fire Alarm Certification Level 2 within 12 months
  • Must be willing and able to differentiate types/colors of wire, use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet, carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted
  • Must be willing and able to work in a variety of environments in and around mechanical equipment, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment, working in ducts, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions
  • Must be willing and able to travel to Northern NJ and NYC frequently
  • Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations

Preferred Qualifications:

As a Project Manager, you will:

  • Evaluate project specifications, drawings, and related documents to understand project intentions, establishing comprehensive project schedules in coordination with the team while identifying crucial installation timelines
  • Oversee the procurement of supplies and materials required for project completion, and actively participate in project cost reviews to ensure financial efficiency

  • Conduct orientations for project technicians, providing all necessary project documentation such as scope of work, technical drawings, project contacts, and application-engineered diagrams
