Rewarding Careers with Siemens for Military Technicians

For more than 165 years, Siemens has stood for innovative strength, a passion for technology, sustainability, responsibility and an uncompromising commitment to quality and excellence. As a globally operating technology company, Siemens understands that its greatest asset is its employees.

People at Siemens are thinkers, dreamers and doers. Siemens recruits people with more than just a passion for disruptive ideas - they must also have the courage to bring them to life.

Orion’s partnership with Siemens dates back to the 1990s, and Siemens has hired nearly 1500 Veterans from Orion throughout the years. One recent partnership that has proven very successful is that of  Kortney Jarnagin (Orion Recruiter) and Ramona Malabad (Siemens Recruiter) who have been working together to recruit and hire top military talent for Field Technician roles within Siemens Power Generation.

In late 2017, Kortney, Ramona, and Orion Account Executive Jacque Scaramazzo, planned and executed a hiring event with the goal to hire a new class of Field Technicians.  Of the eight military technicians that interviewed at this event, Siemens offered positions to seven, and they all happily accepted these great offers.

  • Siemens Field Technician hire, Tristan Bermudez

  • Siemens Field Technician hire, Tobias Brown

  • Five members of Siemens’ Power Generation newest class of Field Technicians. (Pictured from left to right: Brooks Taylor, Michael Gozdanovic, Charles D. Harmon, Edward Fulford, and Jerica Jackson).

In total, this group represents all four branches of the US Military, with two Air Force Veterans, two Navy Veterans, two Army Veterans and one Marine Corps Veteran.

One of the new engineers is Jerica Jackson, a Navy Veteran with experience in management, maintenance and repair of gas turbine engine rooms. She also has additional mechanical experience outside of the military. This combination of her experience gained both in and outside of the military gives Jerica a strong foundation for her career at Siemens.

Charles Harmon is an Air Force Veteran with over eight years of aircraft maintenance. He has experience in the training and supervision of personnel, and possesses highly effective communication skills that he’ll be able to leverage for success in his new role.

Just like Jerica and Charles, each of the other five Veterans in this group bring a wealth of skills, training and experience from the military, which will allow them to uniquely contribute at Siemens.

This new Field Technician class is currently receiving all of the training they will need to succeed in their new careers, and they are eagerly looking forward to a long and rewarding future within the company.

According to  Jacque Scaramazzo, “The Siemens-Orion partnership has been such a win for our military candidates. Siemens’ recruiting and management teams are looking not just for the right skills - but for the attitude and leadership qualities that will enable military job seekers to excel at Siemens. It was a pleasure to find such a talented group for this Power Generation Field Technician class, and I can’t wait to see them succeed at Siemens.”

Orion continues to seek outstanding Military Technicians, NCOs, and Officers to join the Siemens team. You can learn more and check out our current positions available with Siemens here.

Orion Alum Featured in Diversity in Action Magazine

Orion proudly partners with Diversity in Action, a digital and print magazine dedicated to supporting and promoting diversity in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math. In the latest issue, Diversity in Action recently profiled Orion alumnus, Earle LeMasters IV. LeMasters, a Navy Veteran, shares his experiences from college, through the Navy, and his current career at Mitsubishi Electric.

When LeMasters was finishing high school and considering what to study in college, he wanted a major that involved finding answers to difficult questions, and decided on Industrial Engineering.

“I talked to people who were part of the program, and they were problem-solvers,” LeMasters says, “They were given situations like how could we make this product faster? Or, how can we develop a drinking system for someone who has become a quadriplegic? You know, how do you solve these problems that are out there in the world?”

Upon completion of his degree, Lemasters entered the Navy, where he served as an Assistant Administrative Officer and a Reactor Mechanical Division Officer.

When transitioning from the Navy in 2013, LeMasters sought the help of Orion and took an offer with Daiichi-Sankyo, where he worked for two years. After that, he gained some experience at a startup and then again enlisted the assistance of Orion when he was interested in finding a new career. In 2016, Orion introduced LeMasters to a hiring manager at Mitsubishi Electric, and shortly thereafter, LeMasters had accepted a position with the company.

Today, LeMasters puts his problem-solving skills to work as a project manager for Mitsubishi Electric in its elevator and escalator division. He manages projects from the initial phases through fabrication and construction, to the final turnover of the elevators and escalators to the customer.

LeMasters says his experiences gained during his Navy service have greatly helped him in his career with Mitsubishi Electric. “I think the military taught me a great sense of independence and the ability to find the answer on my own”, he says, adding that he uses these skills to help him talk to the right people and get the correct answers, so that he can come up with solutions for each task he faces.
