• Performs Service tasks, identifies technical problems and
  makes analysis through remote or on-site activity in any Service categories
  (installation and commissioning, maintenance, repairs, engineering and
  consulting, advanced services, extensions, upgrades and retrofits, end of life
  services, replacements, etc.).
• Contributes to customer satisfaction by executing Service
  work according to customer order and expectation. Creates and maintains a good
  relationship with customers and understands their needs. Identifies new sales
  opportunities and communicates them internally.
• Coordinates, prepares and ensures that all materials, parts
  and equipment are available and at the appropriate quality for Service
  activities.
• Prepares all documents and reports to be signed by the
  customer representative. Reports work done in a timely manner and follows up
  when needed.
• Proactively identifies potential equipment failures and
  requests proactive corrective actions. Troubleshoots equipment failure and
  makes recommendations to avoid repeating the problem in the future.
• Proactively identifies suggestions for product and quality
  improvement and communicates them further in the organization. Provides
  recommendations to management to improve operations and customer service.
• Applies safety rules and safe practices as well as
  environmental responsibilities. Reports unsafe practices and incidents.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree, Electrical Engineering, Electrical
  Engineering Technology or equivalent military experience or Associates Degree
  with 2 or more years' experience in servicing critical power equipment
• Will consider High School Diploma/GED and 10 or more years'
  experience.
• Advanced level ability to interact and communicate (written
  and verbal) information to varying levels within the organization.
• Advanced level of ability to use Microsoft Office products.
• Moderate ability to self-Project Manage using MS Project or
  Excel.

R&D (Mechanical) Engineer

WHAT A TYPICAL DAY LOOKS LIKE: As an R&D (Mechanical) Engineer, you’ll play a key role in the research, design, and development of innovative products and technologies. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams, product managers, manufacturing, sales, and customers to define product requirements, evaluate design concepts, and develop prototypes that push the boundaries of performance, cost, and manufacturability. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment focused on ideation, iteration, and hands-on development.

R&D ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements, explore new concepts, and assess feasibility of new technologies.
• Lead or support research efforts focused on new product platforms, materials, and technologies related to power distribution systems.
• Use CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor and/or SolidWorks to generate detailed models, rapid prototypes, and production-ready documentation.
• Create and validate design concepts through simulations, prototyping, lab testing, and analysis.
• Develop test plans, perform design validation, and analyze data to drive design improvements.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions, technical reviews, and innovation workshops to generate and refine new ideas.
• Work closely with suppliers, manufacturing, and quality teams to assess DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFT (Design for Test) considerations early in development.
• Identify and resolve design challenges quickly, iterate based on feedback, and document all R&D findings thoroughly.
• Help evaluate materials, components, and emerging technologies that could improve product performance, cost, or lifecycle.
• Support early-stage product trials, pilot builds, and field-testing initiatives.
• Ensure all new designs meet applicable standards, regulatory requirements (e.g., UL, ETL), and customer expectations.
• Manage design changes, version control, and risk assessments through a formal R&D change process.
• May require occasional travel for supplier visits, field testing, or collaboration with customers and partners.
  

THE EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING TO ADD TO THE TEAM:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field from an ABET-accredited program.
• 2–5 years of experience in R&D, new product development, or applied mechanical design—preferably within power distribution or electrical systems.
• Familiarity with relevant standards: UL 891, UL 1558, UL 67, UL 857, UL 1008, and/or UL 62368/60950 is a strong plus.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (Inventor, SolidWorks), PLM systems (e.g., Vault), and engineering documentation tools.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply engineering fundamentals to open-ended design problems.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping methods, lab testing, failure analysis, and continuous improvement.
• A passion for innovation, curiosity, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.

CNC Machine Operator

SSI Manufacturing — In Partnership with Orion Talent

Overview

A CNC Machine Operator at SSI Manufacturing sets up and runs computer numerical control (CNC) equipment to produce precision components that meet specification, quality, and on-time delivery goals. Work includes loading raw material, inputting or verifying program instructions, monitoring cycles, making offsets/adjustments, and inspecting parts. Operators read blueprints, perform light maintenance, and maintain accurate production/quality logs.

Core Responsibilities

• Machine setup — Load material, install and adjust tools/workholding, set zeros, verify calibration, and perform test cuts prior to production.
• Operation & monitoring — Run CNC machines safely; monitor cycle performance; make tool/work offsets, feeds/speeds tweaks, and minor edits as needed to hold spec.
• Quality control - Read blueprints/GD&T; perform in-process and final inspection using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gauges; record results.
• Programming/input — Load programs, verify revisions, and translate drawings into production dimensions at the control; validate with first-article checks.
• Maintenance & safety – Daily care of machines and work area (coolant, chip management, tool changes, housekeeping) and adherence to company and OSHA safety procedures.
• Record keeping & communication — Maintain production and quality logs; communicate status, issues, and completions to leads, engineering, and quality.

Qualifications

• Experience: 3+ years operating CNC mills and/or lathes (setups, tool changes, offsets).
• Blueprints & GD&T: Able to interpret drawings, tolerances, and datums to execute work correctly.
• Inspection proficiency: Accurate use of micrometers, calipers, indicators, pins/gages; documentation of results.
• Technical aptitude: Comfortable with CNC controls, basic program verification, tooling selection, and light PM.
• Math & computer: Solid shop math (fractions/decimals, geometry/trig basics); CAD/CAM familiarity is a plus.
• Team & reliability: Dependable, safety-minded, collaborative, and consistent in meeting production standards.

Nice-to-Haves (Preferred)

• Minor control-side program edits; basic CAM familiarity.

CNC Lathe Set Up Operator/ Department Lead

Set up and/or operate CNC Lathes or Turning Centers to produce parts which meet customer specifications while completing these setups within the allotted time. Manufacture parts which consistently meet customer expectations while achieving established standards or cycle times for these parts. These responsibilities will be achieved by:

• Setting Up CNC Lathes, including those having Live Tooling and Sub Spindles, using machining programs, customer prints, tool sheets, inspection measurement sheets, and other provided information
• Working with Quality, have 1st pieces approved and ensure the process consistently meets customer specifications and expected production rates
• Training other Lathe Operators to strengthen their skills and knowledge
• As directed, manufacturing production parts to fulfill customer Orders
• Being the 'Go To' resource for other Lathe Department Operators to troubleshoot and resolve process or mechanical issues
• Following all safety policies and procedures
