Position: Field Service Engineer

The Field Service Engineer is an intermediate level field service position that necessitates frequent use and general knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards required to install, service and maintain assigned systems. Success in this role requires a solid understanding of the theory, application and technical workings of all required equipment and an ability to work independently on them in a customer setting. Success requires the ability to support a given account base, retain contract customers, complete PMs on time, and perform administrative duties accurately and timely. FSEs must utilize their training to effectively diagnose and troubleshoot issues they encounter in the field. Effective and efficient troubleshooting is imperative in this role. FSEs are expected to escalate quickly and via the appropriate process when customers complain or when technical support is required to resolve a challenging issue. This is a customer-facing role and therefore strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively are required to be successful. Excellent time management skills are a must in order to be an effective efficient Field Service Engineer. As the level of proficiency increases, highly performing FSEs may be asked to assist junior FSEs. In this role, your main responsibilities will include:
? Providing a full range of installation services and preventive and corrective on-site maintenance, on the assigned set of systems manufactured by the company.
? Instructing and training customers in the operation and maintenance of the system.
? Serving as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects.
? Following proscribed procedures, correctly order and obtain spare parts and expedite the return of any defective materials as may be required.

? Degree, technical certificate or related military electronics experience building, maintaining, installing, and/or repairing complex automated electromechanical systems.
? Advanced understanding and ability to troubleshoot problems in software, electronics, optics and electron optics, high voltage, high vacuum, mechanical, and electromechanical systems
? Experienced with Windows operating environments, as well as with databases or CRM Systems. You should know software basics such as updating drivers and basic operations of software controls.

Position Details: Field Service Engineer

Location: San Francisco, CA
Shift: Varies based on customer needs, normal hours 8-5. Overtime and travel happen frequently.
Salary: $60,000-80,000 a year, plus 5-10 OT a week, up to 8% bonus per year!! Company pays employees “door to door,” so the clock starts when a person leaves their house and ends when they come home from travel. Most employees are bringing in 100k with OT and bonus.

Benefits: Health, dental, 401k match, competitive pay with bonus. Employees receive federal rate for mileage, and per diem. Company allows employees to keep points on hotels/flights! If travel is more than 2-3 hours, company will pay for rental car if the employee prefers. Company pays for training in Norway!
Travel: This is a high travel role. Employees may be gone M-F. Company does not expect their employees to travel over the weekend. The travel is heavier the first 6 months while they are learning the job.
