Position: Field Service Engineer

Location: San Francisco Bay Area Territory

The Field Service Engineer is an intermediate level field service position that necessitates frequent use and general knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards required to install, service and maintain assigned systems. Success in this role requires a solid understanding of the theory, application and technical workings of all required equipment and an ability to work independently on them in a customer setting. Success requires the ability to support a given account base, retain contract customers, complete PMs on time, and perform administrative duties accurately and timely. FSEs must utilize their training to effectively diagnose and troubleshoot issues they encounter in the field. Effective and efficient troubleshooting is imperative in this role. FSEs are expected to escalate quickly and via the appropriate process when customers complain or when technical support is required to resolve a challenging issue. This is a customer-facing role and therefore strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively are required to be successful. Excellent time management skills are a must in order to be an effective efficient Field Service Engineer. As the level of proficiency increases, highly performing FSEs may be asked to assist junior FSEs. In this role, your main responsibilities will include:
? Providing a full range of installation services and preventive and corrective on-site maintenance, on the assigned set of systems manufactured by the company.
? Instructing and training customers in the operation and maintenance of the system.
? Serving as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects.
? Following proscribed procedures, correctly order and obtain spare parts and expedite the return of any defective materials as may be required.
? Serving as the company’s customer interface for all service matters, including coordinating service sub contractor activity
? Completing all necessary forms and reports in support of department and company data collection efforts such as but not limited to, expense reports, service reports, quality reports, etc. in prescribed timeframe as established by management.

? Reading and interpreting schematics as required.

Job Requirements: Strong trouble-shooting ability coupled with great customer service skills. 50% of the job is technical and 50% is customer service. Be prepared to describe the equipment on which you have worked and communicate your experience concisely and clearly. Clean driving record is needed. Direct experience as follows:
? Degree, technical certificate or related military electronics experience building, maintaining, installing, and/or repairing complex automated electromechanical systems.
? Advanced understanding and ability to troubleshoot problems in software, electronics, optics and electron optics, high voltage, high vacuum, mechanical, and electromechanical systems
? Experienced with Windows operating environments, as well as with databases or CRM Systems. You should know software basics such as updating drivers and basic operations of software controls.
? Ability to travel to customer sites (up to 50% of the time) and directly interact with customers in a variety of environments.

Salary/Benefits: First year compensation will be comprised of an hourly base rate and an annual target bonus, with total first year compensation expected to be upwards of six figures. Position Details: Field Service Engineer

Location: San Francisco, CA
Shift: Varies based on customer needs, normal hours 8-5. Overtime and travel happen frequently.
Salary: $60,000-80,000 a year, plus 5-10 OT a week, up to 8% bonus per year!! Company pays employees “door to door,” so the clock starts when a person leaves their house and ends when they come home from travel. Most employees are bringing in 100k with OT and bonus.

Keys to a Successful Interview: Someone who is mechanically and electronically inclined. Much of this position is going to be based on responding to the customer’s troubleshooting needs. They have had trouble in the past with unreliable candidates that do not stay for a long period of time. Candidates must understand the travel requirements and emphasize career longevity in the interview. The hiring manager needs to feel that candidates are mechanically inclined, with some experience, and that they fully understand what is expected of them.
