Position: Field Service Engineer
Location: Corona, CA
Develop hardware, software and applications skills necessary to provide direct service and technical support to customers. Lead the company’s efforts to provide superior service to customers; resolve problems in most efficient and appropriate manner for the customer and maintain the company’s product quality commitments to ensure maximum customer satisfaction. Grow and manage a local service organization as the company’s business expands. Considerable travel including internationally is required. Responsibilities:
• Install equipment domestically and internationally.
• Utilize technical information, resolve mechanical, electrical and process problems on equipment installed in the field
• Monitor customer support activity for new system installations, refurbished and retrofit systems work, preventative maintenance and/or emergency repair field service schedules.
• Assist in resolving problems associated with spare parts and delivery issues when necessary.
• Analyze performance, schedule conflicts, quotations, customer satisfaction indicators, and take corrective action or performance improvement initiatives.
• Develop and train new customer support technical personnel.
• Support service marketing initiatives of sales and marketing personnel.
• Maintain communication regarding customers, technology development, business trends, and spare parts management and manufacturing schedules for new systems with corresponding departments such as the Business Unit.
• Plan and direct information to management regarding equipment installed at customer sites, coach and communicate technical training to customers.
• Build and maintain business relationships, communicate technical information and assist with resolution of customer’s issues.
• Participation in and contribution to teamwork within the organization is required.

Education and/or Experience:
Generally, 2 to 4 years of previous experience in related precision electro-mechanical systems manufacturing, field service, and/or business sector management experience is required. A degree in a technical or business discipline is essential.Specific experience and knowledge manufacturing, servicing or technical support of one of the following types of equipment Vacuum & RF or Mw plasma systems used on CVD, PECVD, PVD, Etch, Ashing, ALD, Scanning Acoustic Microscopes (SAM) for non-destructive inspection of semiconductor devices or similar type of robotic wafer processing equipment. The position requires knowledge and direct experience in customer relations and technical support in equipment markets. Knowledge of business communication, strong computer skills, the ability to manage multiple projects and details is required. Two to five years of field, experience is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Must be proficient in computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft’s Word, Excel and other basic computer programs.
Ability to solve practical problems, troubleshoot and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Resourcefulness in resolving problems within the legal and ethical standards of the business is required, and demonstration of regular attendance and punctuality is essential. Competences to lead, supervise, and develop customer support engineers, technicians, would be advantageous. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to maintain clear and cooperative working relationships with co-workers and subordinates. Patience, exercise of judgment, discretion, tact, and strong customer relations skills are required.

The normal work environment is assembly and installation of electro-mechanical assemblies within laboratory and clean room facilities. The employee will be required to travel frequently to customer’s location’s to install, repair, provide preventative maintenance and evaluate system performance. Travel requirements are not expected to be excessive but can at times exceed more than 50% and will include domestic and international destinations and may require multiple day stay-overs to accommodate training and or installations. Employee must comply with customer’s requirements when entering customer’s facilities that correspond to their established procedural guidelines.
Employee must maintain a valid passport and divers license at all times. Loss of either of these items can result in employee termination. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee may at times be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee may on occasion, be exposed to; fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
