Position ID: # EB-2002635386
Date Posted: 8/23/2021 3:23:04 PM
Location: Hillsboro, OR
Industry: Semiconductor
Min Years Experience: 6

Job Description

Our client sells and services semiconductor manufacturing equipment, analytical instrumentation, scientific instruments, bio-related products as well as industrial equipment, electronic devices, electronic and industrial materials, consumer electronic products, wireless mobile telephones, and hard disk manufacturing systems.

Position: Field Service Engineer
Location: Hillsboro, OR
Pay: $25-30 per hour

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) will spend a large portion of their time training under close supervision. The FSE typically receives detailed instructions on all work assignments, acquires job skills, and learns company policies and procedures to perform routine tasks. The FSE learns the hookup process for specific tools as well as their basic operation. Continued training programs are given to develop specific instrument skills, knowledge, and service techniques. The FSE is interfacing with customers and developing relationships with co-workers and managers.

You will be responsible for the latest Electron Beam Microscope (E-Beam). These “tools” are used by a host of Industries from Hospitals, to Universities like UCLA, to the FBI, to Intel as a Wafer Inspection tool. This tool is used to examine the wafer for defects throughout various stages of manufacturing. You will be trained and become an expert on initially one product “tool”, to be followed up with others. These tools detect flaws in the wafer manufacturing process. Goal is to keep tools up and running so that Intel can keep production up. In this position, you will use your electronics, mechanical, lasers, vacuum, computer, and diagnostic expertise to perform set-up, calibration, failure diagnoses, and trouble shooting. You will become an “expert” on your tool and be available to service the tools at any time.

The “tool” you will support does inspections of “bare wafers” prior to the manufacturing process starting. But this same tool is used in research facilities, hospitals, and universities to look at material and medical sciences. Like inspecting a strip of 35mm film to ensure there are no cracks or flaws before you take a picture. The equipment uses a “dark field” technology – putting a laser on a bare wafer and then looking at the “scattered light” to determine if there are any flaws with the wafer. Wafers have to be “flawless” before you start building a microchip on them. The FSE supports a number of accounts in a specific region or is based at the customer site and is responsible for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of company tools.

• Must have good computer skills, and competent in common office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical blueprints and schematics.
• The ability and flexibility to travel to and work in other sites in other cities when required.
• Must be able to work compressed workweeks and overtime when required.
• Must be able to work in a clean-room, fully suited in clean-room garments and self-contained breathing apparatus.
• Proven ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem-solving environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task multiple work assignments. Be able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
• Ability to communicate proactively and interact with internal/external contacts at any level. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to handle private and confidential information in accordance with company’s interest and policies, legal requirements, and business ethics.
