Reports To: Service Supervisor

Summary

A Controls Specialist (CS) is responsible for installation, commissioning, scheduled and emergency service on products serviced by Fairbanks Morse Defense commensurate with appropriate certification. The CS is required to establish, promote, and maintain excellent rapport with all customers, co-workers, sales representatives, and others as appropriate. The CS is also required to maintain continuous communication with Region Offices, and direct manager.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities

ROLE
  • Controls Specialist conducts installation, testing, and troubleshooting services for the controls systems on FMD engine lines 
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Ability to diagnose problems and develop solutions for qualified engines
  • Can work independently on qualified engines
  • May occasionally be assigned to shop duties such as general machining, part inspections, assembly, testing, and warehouse.

TECHNICAL
  • Keep current on Engineering Change Orders, Field Service Change Notices and Service Information Letters
  • Document work performed on Service Reports and write Condition Found Reports
SAFETY
  • Operate in a safe manner in accordance with published safety guidelines

An important component of your Total Compensation is a Weekly Productivity/Incentive Bonus Plan that currently averages 140% of your weekly pay (and that percentage is expected to increase significantly over the next year). Position Description: In this role you will be
responsible for supporting customers with on-site service, technical support

Position: Production Supervisor
Location: Three Rivers, MI
Shift: 2nd shift; must have flexible availability for other shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Travel: None
Compensation: $75k–$85k base

Position Overview:
As a Production Supervisor, you will oversee daily production operations, coordinate with support teams, and ensure efficient planning, scheduling, setup, and execution of production activities. You will lead and develop production associates, drive workflow improvements, maintain safe working conditions, and foster positive union relationships where applicable.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage production associates: hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance management.
  • Monitor and adjust production processes to meet targets for output, material flow, and quality.
  • Resolve production delays and workflow issues; test and implement process improvements.
  • Prepare daily production reports and maintain accurate records of output, yields, and labor/material use.
  • Communicate production status and needs across shifts to ensure smooth handoffs.
  • Enforce safety, compliance, and company policy standards.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with union representatives as applicable.
