Orion Talent Receives Texas Workforce Commission Award

January 2013

Orion Talent was recently the recipient of a Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) Award given to companies in the state of Texas with a great record of recruiting veterans. The award was given as part of the Texas Business Conference, where the TWC provided information for employers and business owners concerning the legal issues of operating a business in Texas.

Vearl Williams, Senior Partner at Orion Talent in their Austin, TX, office, accepted the award on behalf of Orion on January 18 from Commissioner Representing Employers Tom Pauken. Pauken, a Vietnam veteran, has championed this cause since the Reagan Administration when he worked on getting Vietnam veterans hired upon his return to the States in 1967.

Bobby Gear, Director of the Texas Veterans Leadership Program run by the TWC, facilitated Orion's involvement with the Commission after learning about Orion's contribution to the March 2012 Fort Hood Joining Forces Event. Gear's team of 28 districts across the state work to emphasize veteran hiring in their districts. Orion continues to partner with the TWC for this initiative on the state-level, specifically for returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans.
