Job Description
The company is a leading calibration and compliance services provider supporting customers across life sciences, aerospace, defense, energy, utilities, manufacturing, and other highly regulated industries. The Senior Calibration Technician is the highest-level technician role and is responsible for independently calibrating, troubleshooting, and adjusting complex test and measurement equipment in the Fullerton laboratory and at local customer sites.
This role is especially focused on strong electrical calibration capability, with RF experience highly valued. The Senior Technician also serves as a technical resource for the lab by helping train and develop lower-level technicians, supporting workload coordination, analyzing calibration processes and measurement uncertainty, and helping improve quality, efficiency, and technical capability. Strong military calibration experience can translate directly into this level when the technical depth is there.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex calibration work with little to no supervision
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, and adjust higher-level test and measurement equipment
- Apply appropriate measurement techniques, standards, tolerances, and uncertainty principles
- Read and interpret laboratory scopes of accreditation and work within applicable quality requirements
- Perform electrical calibrations and support additional calibration disciplines based on demonstrated proficiency
- Conduct independent technical research and resolve difficult calibration or equipment issues
- Coordinate daily workload priorities with laboratory leadership and support staff
- Perform calibration work in the laboratory and at local customer sites with minimal direction
- Prepare detailed analysis of calibration processes and identify process-improvement opportunities
- Train and advise lower-level Calibration Technicians as they develop new skills
- Maintain strong customer service, safety, documentation, and equipment-handling standards
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
- Strong hands-on calibration experience with the ability to work independently on complex equipment
- Demonstrated proficiency with electrical calibration
- Experience troubleshooting, adjusting, and validating test and measurement equipment
- Working knowledge of measurement standards, calibration techniques, tolerances, and measurement uncertainty
- Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, calibration documentation, and laboratory scopes of accreditation
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and customer-service skills
- Ability to train or technically guide less-experienced technicians
- Valid driver's license and ability to support local customer-site work
- Associate degree or technical-school education, or approximately 6+ years of related experience/training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Nice-to-Have Skills
- RF calibration experience
- Broad multi-discipline calibration experience, including Electrical, Dimensional, Pressure, Temperature, Flow, Mass, or related disciplines
- 6+ years of commercial calibration experience
- ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or CMT certification
- PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, Avionics, or comparable military calibration background
- Experience developing calibration processes, analyzing uncertainty, or improving laboratory workflow
- Prior team-lead, training, or mentoring experience
