Position Details:
Title: CNC Machinist
Location: Meriden, CT
Shifts Available: Mon-Fri 7am-3:30pm
Compensation: $26-$30/hour + OT

Position Description: The CNC machinist is responsible for performing day to day CNC setup operations on a rail system. This person must have the ability to setup, operate, and perform CNC operations with maximum machine utilization. It is critical that the individual(s) capable of this position have exceptional communication and multitasking skills.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Sets up and operates CNC machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.
Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and shapers.
Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.

Requirements:

2 year technical degree in CNC precision machining OR equivalent experience.
Intermediate knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments.
Intermediate knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, and other various accessories
Knowledge reading blueprint drawings and specifications

Work Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this Position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee will work in a manufacturing environment. The employee works near moving mechanical parts and in precarious places. This position is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration, and sharp tooling or objects. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; the employee is required to reach with hands and arms and may occasionally
sit. This position requires the ability to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
