This position is accountable for all inbound material, inventory control, accuracy, and production material flow to support the manufacturing of refrigerated display cases. The Material Flow & Inventory Control Principal will work with a team of specialists to optimize inventory storage, availability, material presentation, and delivery to production lines and Kanban locations. This role will oversee receiving, warehousing, and production replenishment.

This position will also require close collaboration with the quality, purchasing, and production scheduling teams to ensure proper component availability. Will have 3–5 direct reports.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct analysis and investigations of considerable complexity pertaining to the development and implementation of efficient material flow, including automated systems, conveyors, RFID of new manufacturing operations, major production activities, and exploration of product and/or process problems.
  • Create visual representations of material flow and design optimum PFEP to create optimal flow through the three facilities.
  • Design and control work processes used to facilitate the accomplishment of organizational plans as they pertain to inventory control and material flow.
  • Analyze current performance metrics and develop effective leading metrics to improve performance using Six Sigma methodology and Lean principles.
  • Design and implement a world-class inventory management system that seamlessly integrates with the Lean Manufacturing process/techniques.
  • Conduct deep-dive analysis using A3 and Six Sigma methodology to investigate WIP accuracy gaps and develop countermeasures.
  • Provide necessary leadership and training to build and maintain a strong inventory management team. Write and maintain departmental work instructions and training documentation.
  • Develop a process to ensure material flow to final assembly is aligned with the pacemaker; perform the VSM.
  • Interface with other plant departments as required to maintain inventory accuracy and optimize material flow. Work with production planners and material planners with Kanban systems, consignment programs, and cycle counts.
  • Remove material flow constraints through long-term sustainable corrective actions and solutions.
  • Track inventory trends and report to management on root cause analysis and problem-solving strategies. Ensure effective systems are in place to maximize material flow and minimize expenses.
  • Develop effective KPIs to measure and improve team performance.
  • Lead Kaizen improvement projects.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties and carry out special projects as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Master’s in Supply Chain Management or another business-related field
  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in Opex projects, Lean Manufacturing, Material Flow
  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading a team
  • Industrial Engineer with proven experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management in a Lean Manufacturing environment
  • Experience in different supply logistics environments and solutions
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to coach and maintain effective relationships with staff members

Job Overview:

Continental Tide is seeking an experienced and skilled Mechanic II to join our Fleet Services Group in Norfolk, VA to support of ship repair, modernization, and Alteration Installation Team (AIT) projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience performing shipboard mechanical system maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair. This position involves working in a dynamic maritime environment aboard U.S. Navy and other military vessels.

Essential duties & responsibilities includes, but in not limited to the following:

  • Perform operational, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of shipboard mechanical systems across multiple platforms.
  • Perform diagnostic troubleshooting and routine maintenance on shipboard systems to identify faults, restore functionality, and ensure long-term performance.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications.
  • Install and test shipboard mechanical systems including piping, pumps, valves, hydraulics, and rotating machinery.
  • Conduct system testing, calibration, and support commissioning of equipment and systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards.

Ability to perform carpentry-type duties to include use of manual tools, power tools, and building of containments.

Read and interpret documents as necessary, such as operating and maintenance manuals, safety rules and regulations, procedure manuals, etc.

May prepare molds and templates for fabrication of hull treatment.

Maintain a clean work environment where coatings work is being performed.

Mixing of different types of solvent and adhesive materials.

On-Site Execution & Quality (Levels 1-3)

  • Oversee and execute the General Contractor's scope of Commissioning (Levels 1, 2, and 3), focused on Construction Checklists, Pre-Functional Tests (PFTs), and Functional Performance Testing (FPTs).

  • Direct the safe and efficient rigging and placement of heavy MEP equipment (generators, chillers, UPS units, switchgear) with strict tolerance standards.
  • Enforce zero-tolerance policies for contamination and debris in raised floor areas, electrical rooms, and air handling systems.

Coordination & Documentation

  • Actively participate in BIM coordination meetings to preemptively resolve field installation conflicts (clash detection).
  • Maintain detailed daily reports documenting manpower, progress, material deliveries, and critical MEP tie-in/shutdown procedures.
  • Manage the RFI (Request for Information) and submittal review processes for all MEP scopes.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience as an MEP Superintendent, Foreman, or equivalent role, with a minimum of 3 years dedicated to mission-critical data center construction.

Responsibilities
Quality Management:
  • Develop and maintain ISO 9001 or other relevant quality management systems.

  • Monitor product and process quality metrics; drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality standards are met throughout the production lifecycle.

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS):
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Maintain safety data sheets (SDS) and hazardous materials documentation.
  • Lead emergency preparedness and response planning.


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or 7+ years equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications in quality management (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001, CQE) preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a Quality Department, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in product testing, inspection, and quality audits.
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools for identifying trends and discrepancies.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control principles, inspection methods, and measurement techniques.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
