SUMMARY

Removal and installation of hull treatment and non-metallic coatings on United States Navy nuclear-powered submarines. Position requires a willingness to learn, dependability, and the ability to think critically.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards.

Ability to perform carpentry-type duties to include use of manual tools, power tools, and building of containments.

Read and interpret documents as necessary, such as operating and maintenance manuals, safety rules and regulations, procedure manuals, etc.

May prepare molds and templates for fabrication of hull treatment.

Maintain a clean work environment where coatings work is being performed.

Demonstrate comprehension of complex shapes and the ability to understand symmetrical gaps both parallel and perpendicular to the ships surface shape.

Mixing of different types of solvent and adhesive materials.

Use of troweling tools and adhesives, and work with equipment specific to hull treatment installations

Understanding fairness and flushness with regards to surface preparation.

Follow all company rules and policies.

Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task.

May be required to perform additional duties as deemed necessary by the Superintendent.

Must be willing to comply with clean shaven standards needed to wear half/full face respirator.

Successful candidates must demonstrate a successful track record of troubleshooting and servicing electronic relay systems and possess strong mechanical, PC, and Windows skills. PC and Windows skills include installing and loading software, troubleshooting error messages, and working with Remote Access Software. Candidate must also demonstrate a working knowledge of network architecture.


Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • 2-5 years of low-voltage wiring and installation experience, and equipment diagnostic and repair experience
  • DCJS registration holder is preferred
  • Experience with basic networking (LAN, WAN & Best Practices)
  • Experience working outdoors or on Construction Sites
  • Experience with Installation and Service
  • After Hours/Weekends/Holidays: This person will be on call periodically and respond to emergency service calls that are called in during non-business hours. Normal business hours currently are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. This person occasionally will work after hours and on weekends.
  • Physical Requirements: This person will be doing physical work inside and outside. Need to be able to lift at least fifty pounds and be on their feet for much of the day.
  • Pre-employment drug screening will be performed as a condition of employment.
  • Training: New Technicians are paired with veterans for a training period. The technician will also attend manufacturer training. The company's educational assistance program reimburses employees for job-related training and certification programs.
  • This person will provide operator-level training and interact closely with customers.
