Hoppe Technologies, located in Chicopee, Massachusetts, is currently recruiting to fill a CNC Programmer position with a focus on Aerospace, Defense and Space components and their associated requirements. Responsibilities of the CNC Programmer include, but are not limited to;

  • Member of engineering team and key contributor to New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Review and interpret product design information (design input), available 2D drawings, GD&T, 3D electronic models and other product specifications in order to develop and propose the most suitable machining/production process.
  • Consider and select all tooling and fixturing that will be required for the production. Assist with the design and participate in making of needed fixtures and set up components.
  • Run Vericut simulation software on designs in advance of production to detect errors, potential collisions, or programming inefficies.
  • Set up, operate and program multi-taskers and milling machines using Maztrol Conversational and/or G-Code with ability to use MasterCam.
  • Provide direct technical support to machinists in the machining departments.
  • Identify and implement efficiency improvements.

  • Within the scope of the job requirements, adhere and comply with state and federal law, the Company AS9100 quality program and procedures, company policies and Safety and Environmental regulations.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Absolutely MUST have a minimum of three to five years of recent experience in a CNC Programmer role in a Machine Shop / Machining Company that supports the Aerospace, Defense, or Space markets.
  • Minimum high school diploma, preferably with a certificate or associates degree in machining.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience setting up, operating and programming CNC milling or multi-tasking machines.
  • Previous experience with Mazatrol conversational, G-Code EIA-ISO, Mastercam and / or Vericut a must. Proficient knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, and indicators.
  • Knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensions.
  • Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and other accessories used on various machines.
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment.

Required Experience:
  • Absolutely MUST have a minimum of three to five years of recent experience in a Manufacturing Engineer role in a Machine Shop / Machining Company that supports the Aerospace, Defense, or Space markets.
  • Hands-on machining experience. The ideal candidate started their career as a CNC Machinist and then grew into an engineering role.
  • Previous experience with Mazak and Matsuura milling and mill-turn machines is ideal. Previous experience in the manufacture of blades and vanes is highly desirable.
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • Proficient knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, and indicators.
  • Able to read and interpret AD&S part blueprints, models and specifications with an understanding of GD&T.
  • Lean manufacturing certification and experience applying lean tools to drive improvement with an ability to provide detailed project examples inclusive of quantitative results.
  • Project management skill set.
  • Previous formal training and certification in 8D problem solving and internal auditing.
  • Proficiency in Solidworks with an ability to design conceptual work cells and plant layouts is helpful but not required.

  • Develop and manage production schedules to ensure on-time completion of customer orders using ERP systems (Global Shop Solutions).

Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or manufacturing operations
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Global Shop Solutions, Microsoft Dynamics) and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, inventory control, shipping/receiving procedures, and production workflows.
  • Experience working with defense industry requirements, including ITAR, EAR, and DFARS compliance.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to shifting demands.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate across departments including Production, Sales, Quality, and Procurement..
  • Experience with preparing shipping documentation, coordinating freight/logistics, and maintaining accurate inventory and shipment records.
  • Ability to read blueprints required.
