Job Description
The Field Service Engineer II is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing automated instruments used in histology, cytology, and hematology. This position requires frequent travel to perform field service and some installation work. You will also conduct evaluations, testing, inspections, and training on company products.
Travel: Up to 75% domestic travel, primarily within the Southwest region and throughout the U.S. as needed
Key Responsibilities
- Repair medical instruments to manufacturer specifications
- Decontaminate and clean biohazards from instruments before repair
- Perform electrical safety tests
- Provide technical support to Field Service Technicians, BMETs, and internal support teams (Help Desk-style guidance in-person, via phone, email, etc.)
- Conduct field service repairs to minimize customer downtime
- Perform quality inspections and evaluate procedures for future revisions
- Train Field Service Technicians, Independent Repair Vendors (IRVs), BMETs, and other personnel on instrument installation, decontamination, repair, and testing
- Participate in developing and updating service manuals
- Conduct training sessions on- and off-site as assigned
- Document service reports in compliance with FDA requirements
- Draft service bulletins for distribution to IRVs and other partners
- Coordinate product feedback with Manufacturing and Product Development teams
- Analyze service failures and prepare comprehensive reports
- Participate in meetings, task forces, and other collaborative groups
- Ensure compliance with ISO 13485 certification standards
- Recommend improvements to instrument quality and performance
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment
- Recommend process improvements
- Attend technical meetings and seminars as requested
- Support special projects and other assigned tasks
- Maintain professional internal and external communication
