Go to end ⇓The Shift Supervisor serves as the on-shift leader responsible for overseeing production operations, safety, quality, maintenance coordination, and employee performance within a continuous manufacturing environment. This position ensures safe, efficient, and uninterrupted production while leading operators, maintenance personnel, and support staff to meet production and quality objectives.
This role is ideal for hands-on manufacturing leaders who enjoy leading teams, solving operational challenges, developing employees, and driving operational excellence in a fast-paced industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and direct production personnel and maintenance support activities during assigned shifts
- Monitor plant operations and production performance through collaboration with control room operators and floor personnel
- Make operational decisions to meet production, safety, and quality goals
- Coordinate team activities and prioritize work assignments
- Support troubleshooting efforts and oversee basic equipment repairs
- Ensure product quality checks, process monitoring, and testing activities are completed
- Review operational data and direct process adjustments as needed
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities
- Enforce safety policies, environmental requirements, and operational procedures
- Conduct shift turnover meetings and communicate operational status
- Train, coach, and develop operators, technicians, and production personnel
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement initiatives
Must-Have Skills & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Minimum 2 years of manufacturing, industrial, chemical processing, recycling, or heavy industrial experience
- Previous leadership, supervisory, crew lead, or team lead experience preferred
- Strong understanding of production operations and workplace safety
- Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and changing conditions
- Comfortable working rotating 12-hour shifts
- Basic computer skills including email, reporting systems, and operational documentation
