Job Description

Position Title: Lead Building Automation Systems Supervisor
Location: Charlotte, NC
Position Description:
The Lead Building Automation Systems Supervisor will oversee teams responsible for performing service work on building automation, fire, life safety, or security systems in commercial facilities such as hospitals, universities, and large industrial sites. This role ensures the overall success of Specialists and Technicians by coordinating their activities for all installed projects, technical support programs, and time-and-materials (T&M) work to provide on-time delivery of service contracts and meet customer expectations.
Responsibilities:
  • Supervise, train, and mentor the service team; set goals, monitor performance, conduct employee review meetings, schedule training, and ensure safety compliance.
  • Determine technical labor needs and appropriate talent balance to meet customer demands; schedule and assign tasks; assist team with maintenance activities and required paperwork.
  • Identify additional chargeable opportunities, including T&M, system upgrades, and service contract expansions; complete and submit service orders and reports.
  • Participate in sales-to-service and projects-to-service turnover processes, including final project walkthroughs, service agreement scope reviews, and turnover to the inspection team.
  • Ensure contract requirements are met to a high standard; maintain strong customer relationships and ensure effective communication; support contract profitability through cost control.
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or state-recognized GED.
  • Product line knowledge in Building Automation Equipment.
  • 5–7+ years of experience as a specialist or technician in the HVAC/Building Automation Controls industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license (limited violations).
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school.
  • Experience with Tridium Niagara.
  • Competitor experience in the industry.
  • 5+ years as a specialist or technician in HVAC/Building Automation Controls.
  • Experience supervising teams of six or more.

Position Overview:

You will be responsible for identifying and resolving technical issues, recommending system upgrades, and providing routine maintenance and repair services. The role is ideal for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude, especially those with prior military experience in mechanical systems (e.g., Navy MMs, aircraft mechanics).
Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and verify hydraulic equipment installations for proper performance
  • Conduct routine maintenance and recommend preventative maintenance schedules
  • Perform basic mechanical tasks: pipefitting, leak repairs, flushing, filtration, and startup assistance
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical systems, including data collection, system tuning, pump control, and component replacement planning
Requirements:
  • Mechanical aptitude required; experience with hydraulics is a plus
  • Prior military experience (e.g., Navy Machinist’s Mates, Aircraft Mechanics) highly desirable
  • Willingness to travel 2–3 nights per week
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
