Position Details:Title: Controls Technician
Location: Lithonia, GA | Box Plant
Shift: 3rd Shift | 7:00 pm – 7:00 am
2-2-3 schedule (48 hours one week and 36 hours the next with every other weekend off)
Compensation: $40.58/hour + .25 shift differential
$90,000+ annual W2 with overtime

Position Description: Controls Technician
The Controls Technician ensure that equipment is designed and programmed to company build specifications using standard techniques and approach. As such, you will conduct the electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic design, peripheral device programming, machine PLC programming, coordinate the machine debug, power-up, and machine validation with the appropriate build and electrical teams.
Additional duties and responsibilities will include:
• Review electrical, hydraulic and controls drawings submitted to the company by OEM’s for compliance to equipment standards.
• Communicate with the project “team” to ensure a constant level of project awareness.
• Integrate, develop, and trouble-shoot programs for a number of different machine controllers, servo systems, motion controllers, robotics, HMI’s and related components in a timely and efficient manner, using company standard techniques and approach.
• Develop a machine “bill of materials” and coordinate the procurement of these materials with the purchasing department and/or the MPS Coordinator, using company standard procedure and process.
• Coordinate with maintenance technicians and electricians on a timely basis to ensure that all drawings, manuals, sequence of operation, PLC and HMI programs, etc., are kept current and correct. The controls engineer will be responsible for the maintenance / upkeep of the “back up program files” based in the Maintenance CAD file on the intranet.
• Attend certain technical training classes, as deemed necessary by the maintenance / facilities manager, and pass this knowledge along to electricians, maintenance technicians, interns, and/or electrical apprentices.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate possesses a strong electrical/mechanical aptitude and previous experience in a controls technician role. You should also have a strong working knowledge and previous experience troubleshooting PLC programming.
Interview Background Information: There is a standardized test that must be passed to move forward for this position, and that will take place after your initial interview. In the initial conversation, remember to bring up troubleshooting experience, process improvements, and your desire to be a team player. Detail your experience with various maintenance pieces—both preventative and corrective! Have a great example of how you were the go-to tech for a very specific equipment issue.
