Job Description
Go to end ⇓- Title: UPS Field Technician
- Location: Columbia, MD
- Shift: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Compensation: Anticipate an annual W2 of $80K+
- $28/hour + Overtime (time and a half; approx. 12 hours/week)
- $5,000 Sign-On Bonus
- Double time for weekends and overtime before 6 AM or after 6 PM
- Benefits: Health, Dental, Life, and Supplemental Insurance; 3 weeks PTO (prorated); paid holidays; up to 4% 401(k) match
- Travel: Regional travel throughout Virginia/DC area
- Personal vehicle use (mileage reimbursed) or ride-share with a fellow technician
- Approx. 5 nights of travel per month
- Perform initial equipment start-ups and commissioning.
- Provide 24/7 on-call emergency service as required.
- Troubleshoot and repair critical power systems with minimal impact to customer operations.
- Execute custom and large-scale installation projects alongside team members.
- Train and educate customers on proper operation and maintenance of their systems.
- Maintain company-issued tools, equipment, and technical documentation.
- Recognize and communicate potential sales opportunities for additional critical power solutions.
- Complete all service reports, timecards, and expense reports accurately and on time.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including safe clean-up of electrolyte spills.
- Provide mentoring to less experienced technicians as needed.
- Participate in ongoing technical training.
- 4–5 years of technical training and hands-on experience in an electrical/electronic role; US Navy or Air Force experience highly preferred.
- Proficient with Oscilloscopes, Multi-meters, Hydrometers, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently in the field.
- Valid driver’s license with clean, insurable driving record; ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
- Must pass pre-employment assessment, background screening, DOT drug screen (hair follicle), and physical.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without employer sponsorship.
