Closing the Skills Gap, with Army Veteran and Founder of STRAC Institute

From the Battlefield to the Boardroom Podcast

Orion has recently partnered with STRAC Institute to provide careers and job seeker resources for its graduates. STRAC is an acronym for Skills TRaining And Certification. The veteran-owned business, initially focused on hiring and training service-disabled veterans, has evolved to serve both veterans and non veterans.

STRAC institute's award-winning Electronics Assemblers and Technician Program is an alternative to traditional two and four-year institutions, with the goal of closing the skills gap, one graduate at a time. Graduates of the program receive 13 internationally recognized certifications along with valuable hands on experience. In addition to its proprietary curriculum, STRAC Institute prides itself on teaching life skills, helping graduates contribute to their community, family and self.

John Shepard, U.S. Army Veteran and Founder of STRAC institute, joins the show to discuss his experience working in the technology field after leaving the military, and what led him to founding STRAC Institute. Topics include:

  • Services STRAC Institute offers to students
  • What makes their program unique
  • The most rewarding aspects of his career
