Project Manager

Midwest
US Navy, O-3

I am currently a Lieutenant in the Navy, Civil Engineers Corps. My resignation date is May 31, 2007, so I had not seriously started a job search, and I certainly hadn’t dreamed that I would have a job waiting almost seven months out from my separation date when a fellow officer referred me to Orion. Within 24 hours of my email to Todd Phillips at Orion indicating my interest in the energy field, he responded with the job synopsis from US BioEnergy. Todd arranged the initial phone interview after I told him I was interested in the position. And after the first interview, things moved very quickly. I was at a personnel interview at the US BioEnergy headquarters within ten days! After my resignation from the Navy, I will be a Construction Project Manger, which is exactly the type of job I was looking for.

I did not think I would find a job this far out with a company that would wait for me to finish my commitment to the military. Other recruiting agencies told me that it was still too far out to begin interviewing and that I should wait until after the holidays. However, I began working with Orion and Todd before I put in my resignation from the military. Todd also gave me a good picture of what to expect in the job market for the type of job I wanted.

I appreciate everything the team at Orion did, especially Todd, who helped me get in on the ground floor of an exciting new industry with limitless potential. Again, I cannot tell you how comforting it is for me and my family to have job security this far out from my resignation from active duty. Not only do I have a job…I have a great job doing exactly what I want to do and at a great salary. Thanks to Todd and the whole Orion team for working for me and continuing to look for great jobs when other recruiters discouraged me from looking so early. I have recommended Todd and Orion to several of my friends in and out of the military. If ever I find myself looking to change jobs again, I will definitely call the folks at Orion first!
