Title: Weld Engineer
Location: Cheektowaga, NY
Shift or Travel: Monday – Friday | 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Compensation: $100K + annual bonus

Position Description:
The Weld Engineer is a key member of the quality team, responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing welding processes and procedures to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. The role requires collaboration across design, production, and quality teams to optimize welding operations.
Responsibilities include:
• Develop and oversee welding procedures (WPS) and maintain procedure qualification records (PQR) per applicable codes and standards
• Troubleshoot welding issues and provide technical solutions
• Evaluate and approve welding equipment, consumables, and technologies
• Train and certify welders; maintain documentation of qualifications
• Conduct weld inspections and oversee quality control processes
• Investigate weld failures and implement corrective actions
• Ensure safety compliance and proper documentation
Program Management:
• Maintain and improve the weld program
• Monitor progress and manage risk
• Coordinate cross-functional meetings and provide updates
• Ensure deliverables are completed on time and within budget
• Communicate status and changes to stakeholders
Engineering Support:
• Provide technical expertise on weld-related issues
• Support design reviews and develop weld solutions
• Troubleshoot issues during execution
Data Analysis and Reporting:
• Collect and analyze weld program data
• Track KPIs and report on performance
• Recommend process improvements and cost reductions

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
• Certified Welding Engineer (CWEng) or equivalent (Highly Preferred)
• Proficient in SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW processes
• Strong knowledge of metallurgy and material properties
• Familiarity with AWS, ASME, API welding codes and standards
• Experience in WPS development and qualification
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
