Position Details:
Location: Owatonna, MN (65 miles due south of downtown Minneapolis)
Shift: 12hr shift, three days per week. Current opportunities are on 2nd shift. 1 opening Sun. – Tue. 5pm – 5am. 2 openings Wed. – Fri. 5pm – 5am. These shifts are paid at full-time status. There could be additional overtime but typically you will get 3-4 days off per week.
Compensation: Target base salary ~$75K - $80K, with overtime bonuses paid for each block of 4-hours overtime worked (average Production Supervisors earn ~$8K annually in O/T bonus).

Position Description: In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and supervision of a team of up to 40 production personnel (including 2 to 3 Team Leads) in an assigned area of production (metal fabrication, assembly, testing, etc.) to ensure manufacturing operations run safely, with world-class quality, and to established production specifications and schedules. You will be responsible for implementing and driving change in a high volume, fast-paced, LEAN manufacturing environment, interacting daily with department supervisors/leaders in Operations, Quality, Human Resources, Finance, Materials, Engineering, and Continuous Improvement. Some specific responsibilities include:
• Review production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates to plan department operations.
• Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
• Promote safety within all manufacturing processes and enforces compliance with safety processes and procedures.
• Prepare operational schedules and coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
• Review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
• Resolve manpower, material, and equipment issues.
• Assist in carrying out production objectives at lowest cost, consistent with the organization's quality and safety requirements.
• Monitor machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
• Survey all manufacturing operations to determine areas for process investigations.
• Recommend process changes where justifiable by cost studies.
• Develop or revise standard operational and working practices and observe workers to ensure compliance with standards.
• Resolve worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to Production Manager and Human Resources for action.

Requirements: A 4-yr BS/BA degree is required for this role. Ideal candidates will be natural managers and leaders, with the ability to generate confidence and credibility in their employees’ eyes. This is a friendly union environment with a tenured workforce, so you must be level-headed, employ a humble and empathetic, yet also firm and direct leadership style. It is a very fast-paced and frequently changing environment, so you must be very comfortable in that kind of dynamic surrounding. A technical background (ideally engineering, maintenance or electrical) is ideal, but not required, and you must have a keen eye for process improvement.
