Description

Position Details:
• Title: Field Service Technician
• Location: San Jose, CA
• Travel: Approximately 80% overnight domestic travel (and occasional international travel); typical jobs are one to four days in length, so weekend travel is not common. When you are not travelling, you are providing technical service and support to customers from the Minneapolis facility.
• Compensation: $27/hr - $38/hr
o Bonuses/Additional Compensation: With O/T due to travel, you can realistically expect a W2 between $75K - $90K

Position Description: The Field Service Technician primary function is to travel to customer sites to perform installation, maintenance and repair activities on laser products, systems and components, and provide training and technical support to customers. Some specific responsibilities include:
• Perform on-site installation, training, preventive maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of complex laser sources and optical systems.
• Supported by the company factory technical support team and product engineers, you will troubleshoot and diagnose product issues directly with customers.
• Provide remote service and visual support as required to ensure optimal product performance
• Advise management on customer satisfaction, product quality/reliability, and potential product improvement ideas
• Support sales related activities and customer communication as needed
Education and Experience
• Associate's degree, technical certificate/degree, or technical equivalent
• 3-5 years laser, photonics or other sophisticated capital equipment field service experience
Skills
• Problem solving skills related to electronic/electrical, mechanical, and/or photonics products
• Technical reading, writing, and schematics comprehension experience
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Command of the verbal and written English language
• Computer literate education and experience w/ Microsoft products, Oracle, Salesforce
• A highly functional individual both independently and within a team environment
