Role Overview
The Davit Technician installs, tests, repairs, and services hydraulic davit systems and related shipboard equipment. This field-based role requires professionalism, technical expertise, and responsiveness to customer needs, including worldwide travel to Navy and defense customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Install, service, and maintain hydraulic davit systems and related equipment.
- Perform electrical wiring and fitting of davit systems.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues.
- Complete service logs, expense reports, and technical documentation.
- Support shipboard operations including commissioning, servicing, and emergency repairs.
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Act as an FMD ambassador, ensuring high customer satisfaction and first-time-fix results.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and property (vehicle, laptop, PPE, etc.).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
- 4+ years of military or industry technical experience (6+ years with davit systems preferred).
- Experience with hydraulic systems, electrical schematics, and test equipment.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver's license; able to travel up to 75% (including weekends and short notice).
- Crane Operator Certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift at least 35 lbs. regularly.
- Standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, and working in confined shipboard environments.
- Strong vision and coordination to perform inspections and repairs.
