Marine Hydraulic Technician (Davit Systems)

Location: Norfolk, VA

Pay: $33-40+, based on experience

Schedule: Full-time, field service role (travel up to 75%)

Role Overview

The Davit Technician installs, tests, repairs, and services hydraulic davit systems and related shipboard equipment. This field-based role requires professionalism, technical expertise, and responsiveness to customer needs, including worldwide travel to Navy and defense customer sites.

Responsibilities

  • Install, service, and maintain hydraulic davit systems and related equipment.
  • Perform electrical wiring and fitting of davit systems.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues.
  • Complete service logs, expense reports, and technical documentation.
  • Support shipboard operations including commissioning, servicing, and emergency repairs.
  • Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Act as an FMD ambassador, ensuring high customer satisfaction and first-time-fix results.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, and property (vehicle, laptop, PPE, etc.).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of military or industry technical experience (6+ years with davit systems preferred).
  • Experience with hydraulic systems, electrical schematics, and test equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license; able to travel up to 75% (including weekends and short notice).
  • Crane Operator Certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift at least 35 lbs. regularly.
  • Standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, and working in confined shipboard environments.
  • Strong vision and coordination to perform inspections and repairs.
