Position Description
We are seeking a Manufacturing Buyer to join our team in West Hartford, CT. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, components, and equipment to support manufacturing operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring a reliable supply chain that delivers high-quality products at competitive costs while maintaining production schedules and fostering strong supplier relationships. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, skilled in negotiation, and experienced in purchasing within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability, and service performance.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure favorable agreements with vendors.
- Issue purchase orders and monitor deliveries to ensure materials are available on time for production.
- Track inventory levels and coordinate with production teams to prevent shortages or excess stock.
- Resolve supplier-related issues involving quality, delivery, or pricing in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier performance, and pricing.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure material specifications meet requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance procurement processes and support lean manufacturing initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
- 2+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and supplier management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP or MRP systems.
- Strong analytical abilities to evaluate data and make sound purchasing decisions.
- Highly organized with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and supply chain best practices
