As a Technical Support Specialist, you will serve as the primary technical customer phone support for in-house operations, acting as a liaison between customers and Field Service Engineers for laser products. This role requires interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, applying strong electrical/electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills, and communicating technical concepts clearly to customers and support personnel. You will also perform electronic troubleshooting, repair, and testing of systems in the repair depot and occasionally in the field.
Key responsibilities include:
- Troubleshoot and optimize laser system performance (electronic, electrical, and mechanical)
- Perform electronic troubleshooting to the board level, repair/test systems, and package/ship systems/components
- Provide repair estimates for customer quotes and support product support group activities
- Update engineering with feedback on required upgrades through change requests
- Train/support customers, partners, and internal personnel
- Participate in application development with sales and applications teams
- Identify new customer requirements and provide specifications for new product features
- Support customer communication via phone, email, and online platforms
- Work within ERP and CRM systems to manage service activities
Requirements:
- Ability to use a multimeter
- Strong electrical/electronic troubleshooting skills with high- and low-voltage equipment
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics
- Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication ability
- Willingness to work in a primarily desk-based role (sitting at a computer for extended periods)
