Title: Machinist
Location: Manchester, NH
Compensation: $18-$35/hr (Depending on experience)
Position Description:
The Machinist is responsible for machining, reworking, and inspecting components used to assemble slides and spindles, as well as manufacturing precision parts. This role involves creating components to specification, manufacturing new products, or restoring existing products to like-new quality and performance levels.
Key Responsibilities:
• Machine components for assembly or precision parts using CNC machining centers or manual machines.
• Position work, check machine operation, and activate machines, observing progress.
• Work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, programs, numerical control data, and operation sheets.
• Edit programs with an understanding of machine codes and their effects.
• Optimize programs for faster cycle times and perform basic programming (programming from scratch is a plus).
This is a demanding role requiring strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of machine tools, constant attention to detail, and the ability to perform precise machining work to ultra-close tolerances.
Requirements:
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. with working knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• 2–3 years of experience in setting up and operating manual machines and/or CNC machining centers.
• Knowledge and understanding of G.D. & T. (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Requires minimal supervision, except in unique aspects of the work.
• Strong mechanical abilities.
• Ability to read and understand complex blueprints and bills of materials.
• Proficient in using and reading precision measuring devices.
• Experience with inspection computer software and ERP systems is preferred.
