Position Description:
The Senior Systems Engineer will provide engineering support for large-scale products and their application at a system level. This role requires expert knowledge of products and systems in photovoltaic, battery, and power-to-gas environments, with responsibility for troubleshooting, optimizing, and supporting both internal teams and external customers. The Senior Systems Engineer will interface with development and service teams, serve as a technical escalation point, and provide advanced expertise in system-level failures and performance optimization.

This role requires expert knowledge of products and systems in photovoltaic, battery, and power-to-gas environments, with responsibility for troubleshooting, optimizing, and supporting both internal teams and external customers. The Senior Systems Engineer will interface with development and service teams, serve as a technical escalation point, and provide advanced expertise in system-level failures and performance optimization.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Master’s in Electrical Engineering strongly preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in a technical or engineering role
- 5+ years of experience in at least two of the following: PV systems, battery storage systems, plant communications/controllers, medium voltage products, and/or power-to-gas solutions
- Advanced knowledge of engineering and mathematical concepts
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the renewable industry, solar installation, system design, and/or inspection
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, PLCs, and PACs
- Advanced skills with communication protocols (Modbus, DNP, OPC, ICCP, TCP/IP, TCP/UDP)
- Knowledge of power plant measurement devices and techniques
- Advanced knowledge of large-scale product lines
- Fluency in English (German and/or Spanish a plus)
- Ability to work occasional nonstandard business hours
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise for large-scale products including central inverters, medium voltage equipment, communication and control systems, converters, and rectifiers
- Support technical and engineering teams in troubleshooting complex system failures and provide advanced electrical theory to escalate investigations
- Serve as primary customer interface when required, delivering solutions and technical support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize product design, serviceability, and performance
- Conduct root cause analyses and provide recommendations for system improvements
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, databases, and processes for internal teams and customers
- Coach and mentor support teams to elevate their technical capabilities
