Position Description
The Field Service Engineer will provide technical support and hands-on service for critical power facilities. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills with automatic transfer switches and other power control equipment. The engineer will be involved in startups, modifications, warranty service, emergency calls, and preventative maintenance. Responsibilities
- Perform field startups (standard & non-standard systems), warranty service, remedial repairs, and preventative maintenance.
- Focus on automatic transfer switches and related equipment.
- Supervise and ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Conduct client communications in a professional, service-oriented manner.
- Identify opportunities to expand scope of work and negotiate additional charges as needed.
- Carry cell phone and remain on-call 24/7 to respond to client needs.
- Complete projects on time and within budget while adhering to all regulatory codes and standards.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- High School Diploma / GED.
- 3+ years of experience in:
- Field Service Engineering.
- Electrical power (low voltage through medium voltage switchgear) in critical facilities (data centers, airports, etc.).
- Testing of automatic transfer switches.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Familiarity with codes and industry standards.
- Strong client interaction, project management, and organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Requirements:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Strong customer service, time management, and follow-up skills.
- Knowledge of power distribution, DC/AC, voltage circuit theory, and troubleshooting.
