Title: Engineering Laboratory Technician
Location: Wilmington, NC
Shift: M-F, 1st Shift
Compensation: $80K - 120K DOEQ. Relocation assistance is provided.

Position Description:
As a Laboratory Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the company's enrichment research and development efforts. You will be responsible for preparing and analyzing samples using advanced mass spectrometry and supporting technologies in a highly regulated nuclear laboratory environment. This position is ideal for Navy Nuclear ELTs or professionals with nuclear laboratory experience who are passionate about precision, national energy initiatives, and technical innovation.
NOTE: This role is subject to the incumbent's ability to hold and maintain an NRC Q-clearance, as well as their ongoing ability to maintain nuclear site access.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process samples, including extraction and purification, for mass spectrometry analysis.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot mass spectrometry instrumentation.
- Develop and validate analytical methods to ensure accuracy and sensitivity.
- Analyze and report data to support operational decision-making.
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists to interpret and communicate results.
- Support additional lab and operational activities when sample analysis is not required.
Requirements:
- Active DOD Top Secret or DOE/NRC Q-clearance or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a nuclear laboratory environment (e.g., Fuel Facility Chemist or Navy ELT).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A basic knowledge of nuclear power plant systems and their operation and health physics procedures.
- Ability to diagnose problems in power plant equipment and write maintenance requests for repairs.
- Ability to work extended hours on occasion.
Preferred:
- Experience with MC-ICP-MS and handling UF6 samples.
- Background in environmental or fuel cycle sample analysis involving radionuclides or stable isotopes.
- Familiarity with analytical instruments such as ICP-OES, XRF, UV/VIS, FTIR.
- Experience applying statistical methods for uncertainty quantification.
- Programming experience (Python or similar) for hardware control and data analysis.
