Responsibilities

  • Program, modify, and troubleshoot Rockwell ControlLogix and Siemens PLC software.
  • Commission and start up new automated packaging equipment.
  • Adjust and optimize machine software parameters for maximum performance.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical, controls, and automation issues.
  • Download, configure, and update PLC, HMI, and drive programs.
  • Develop test protocols, validation documentation, and automation change controls.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Document software revisions and maintain updated machine programs.
  • Interface directly with customers, subcontractors, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Support machine upgrades, rebuilds, and automation improvements.

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with industrial automation or high-speed automated equipment.
  • Expert knowledge of Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix) and Siemens PLC platforms.
  • Experience with PLC programming, commissioning, and startup of automated equipment.
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical controls, HMIs, servo systems, and motion control.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, control diagrams, and P&IDs.
  • Excellent customer communication and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel 50-75%.

Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Wafer Operations Maintenance Specialist to support semiconductor manufacturing equipment. 

This is an excellent opportunity for mechanically and electrically inclined candidates who want to develop their equipment-maintenance skills in an advanced manufacturing environment. The Maintenance Specialist will perform preventive and proactive maintenance on production equipment while working closely with Operations, Process Engineering, and Equipment Engineering.

Prior semiconductor equipment experience is not required. Because our equipment is highly specialized, the company is looking for candidates with strong mechanical aptitude, basic electrical knowledge, the ability to follow technical documentation, and a willingness to learn.

The position can provide a pathway toward becoming an Equipment Maintenance Technician within our company.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive and proactive maintenance on semiconductor production equipment.
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment according to operating manuals, schematics, blueprints, and technical procedures.
  • Use test and diagnostic equipment to perform equipment checks and identify potential issues.
  • Replace filters, O-rings, seals, brushes, and other equipment consumables.
  • Complete repetitive maintenance activities designed to improve equipment uptime and overall performance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using paper and electronic checklists.
  • Support equipment spare-parts activities, including replacement-part delivery and component repair.
  • Work closely with Operations, Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, and other technical teams.
  • Maintain a clean and organized manufacturing environment in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Follow established safety procedures and maintain safe working practices at all times.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on equipment maintenance.
  • Working familiarity with electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical/mechanical schematics, maintenance manuals, and technical instructions.
  • Comfortable using hand tools and performing equipment disassembly/reassembly.
  • Ability to work a 12-hour day or night shift.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical maintenance work.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs and periodically kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to wear a respirator and successfully complete required medical evaluation and fit testing.
