Job Description

The Field Service Technician is responsible for installation, commissioning, and technical support of high-precision glass processing equipment across North America. This role requires strong electrical and mechanical skills in an industrial environment, along with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and maintenance.
The technician will work closely with customers to ensure proper equipment operation, provide training, and deliver high-quality service support. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy travel, problem-solving, and working directly with customers in a technical capacity. Location: Detroit, MI Area.


Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
• Technical trade school or associate degree in electrical or mechanical engineering with at least 1 year of industrial experience, or 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical tools
• Strong problem-solving ability and technical aptitude
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including weekends
• Must be located within 1 hour of an international airport
• Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office


Requirements
• Perform installation, start-up, and commissioning of new machinery
• Provide maintenance, user interface, and process training to customers
• Perform preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and breakdown support
• Provide technical support to customers during normal business hours when not traveling
• Upgrade product installations and support startup processes
• Deliver equipment service support for heat treatment machinery
• Travel to customer sites across North America to support equipment and service needs


Nice-to-Have Skills, Experience, and Education
• Experience in an electrically focused industrial role with strong mechanical background
• Field service or traveling technician experience
• Experience with PLC logic and CNC systems
• Fluency in German and/or Spanish
