Project Manager

Midwest
US Air Force, O-3

Todd Phillips was my recruiter, and he took special care to analyze my background and experience to pair me off with several opportunities that I felt were excellent matches. After being invited to the Chicago conference, I interviewed with four companies, all of which I would have been happy to work for. I received interest from two, and had a number of follow up interviews with Stryker for two different positions in different departments that ended up competing over me.

I was an Air Force Captain. I flew B-1B bombers as a back-seater, which doesn't prepare you for much else, but the many additional duties you have as an officer allow you to build a breadth of experience. I am now an IT project manager. I ensure projects to develop functional software stay on time, on budget and deliver the requested results. It was a lot like being a training officer in the Air Force where I was responsible for ensuring everyone got the training they needed to deploy without busting out annual budget. However, it must be said, I had built some private sector experience in the industry as well

Orion was proactive, encouraging and helpful. They provided advice and interview training. I'd recommend Orion for anyone transitioning from the military, or to any veteran who is changing jobs and wants a better way to find the right career without hoping to be that one resume in five-hundred that gets picked on a job board for an interview.

I would not be where I am today without Orion. Few people enjoy the advantage of being able to interview one-on-one with recruiters from many top companies in one day, and Orion made that possible for me. Through the hiring conference, I was able to find a terrific job in a place I'm excited to live. I'd recommend Orion to any veteran seeking to transition into the private sector. They will help you get where you want to go.
