Description
Go to end ⇓The successful candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, 3–5 years of related facilities experience, and hands-on knowledge of commercial building systems. You will work closely with Property Management, Construction, customers, vendors, and other engineering personnel to maintain reliable building operations and provide a high level of customer service.
- High school diploma or GED
- 3–5 years of related commercial facilities, building engineering, or building maintenance experience
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting commercial building systems
- Experience with mechanical systems and equipment
- Experience with electrical systems, electrical gear, and related building equipment
- Experience with plumbing fixtures and plumbing systems
- Working knowledge of DDC and/or pneumatic controls
- Experience with general building repairs and maintenance, including lighting, ceilings, doors, hardware, flooring, roofing, garages, or parking areas
- Ability to perform routine inspections and identify building-system maintenance or repair needs
- Ability to respond to equipment failures, building emergencies, and other operational issues
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond remotely or onsite as required
- Ability to work overtime and after-hours when required
- Ability to maintain accurate departmental records and maintenance documentation
- Ability to read and review construction documentation related to building systems and tenant improvements
- Ability to support system checks and inspections before, during, and after construction projects
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong customer-service and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment
- General computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel between properties within the market as required
- Ability to lift and/or move 50–100 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and perform other physical activities required for facilities maintenance
- Commercial office building engineering experience
- Experience supporting a large commercial property or multi-building portfolio
- Experience with DDC building automation systems
- Pneumatic controls experience
- HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting experience
- Building automation or controls experience
- Fire and life safety system experience
- Access-control system experience
- Preventive maintenance experience
- Tenant improvement construction experience
- Experience reviewing construction drawings and documentation
- Experience participating in preconstruction, progress, and punch-walk meetings
- Experience supporting capital improvement projects
- Experience working directly with Property Management and Construction teams
- Appropriate electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or safety licenses and certifications
- Stationary Engineer license
- Maintenance Electrician license
- HVAC contractor or related HVAC certification
- SMA (Systems Maintenance Administrator) designation
- SMT (Systems Maintenance Technician) designation
- Experience with operational or capital-budget planning
- Experience working in customer-facing commercial facilities environments
