JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Assurance Technician III is a senior-level role responsible for ensuring that machined parts and assemblies meet internal standards, customer specifications, and applicable industry/ISO requirements. This position serves as a subject matter expert on quality inspection processes, advanced measurement tools, and root cause analysis. The QA Tech III mentors junior inspectors, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and partners with engineering and production teams to maintain the highest standards of product quality and compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs advanced dimensional inspections of machined components using precision measuring equipment (CMM, optical comparators, height gauges, micrometers, calipers, etc.).
  • Interprets complex engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Conducts First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 or customer-specific requirements.
  • Develops, reviews, and maintains inspection plans, control plans, and quality documentation.
  • Supports PPAP submissions and customer qualification processes.
  • Leads root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for nonconforming product.

Experienced Steel Welder

Position Summary

As an Experienced Steel Welder, you will use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components, to fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products. Responsible for welding components of the ship and completing repairs or new builds on time, to specifications, and within scope of the project. Completes all the required company training and follows all company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.

Essential Duties of the Quality Engineer:

  • Review proposal work scope, drawings, and contract requirements for manufacturability. Review technical contract package for proper incorporation of technical requirements.
  • Develop and evaluate alternate methods and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Implement planned controls of in-process quality. Conduct evaluations of quality capabilities of operations, processes, and measuring equipment through process or machine capability studies and evaluate results.
  • Identify causes of chronic manufacturing problems through statistical analysis providing corrective action improvement recommendations.
  • Implement routine statistical methodology for in-process control and product acceptance.
  • Implement the contract quality requirements through the incorporation of pass down requirements in purchase orders.
  • Conduct sub-tier supplier quality system audits at the supplier's location.
  • Manage and implement company's internal audit program.
  • Analyze audit data and advise appropriate personnel when their performance departs from standards. Follow-up to ensure that effective corrective action has been taken.
  • Evaluate and provide disposition of customer trouble records.
  • Assist in the resolution of inspection problems related to process planning instructions.
  • Assist with the timely disposition of material certifications and/or certificates of compliance.
  • Assist with the timely preparation of history books and resolve technical issues associated with this documentation.
  • Serve as the customer contact with respect to quality issues related to the orders to which the Quality Engineer is assigned.

Education: B.S. in Engineering, preferably in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering strongly desired.

Experience:

Some exposure to a heavy manufacturing environment is desirable.

This position requires knowledge of basic engineering principles and their application to industrial problems.   • NSTR-99 certification in PT and RT will be expected within 6 months after hire date.
  • Must meet 10CFR34 requirements for a Radiation Safety Officer.
  • Current IRRSP card holder with 2,000 hours of isotope experience is required.

Manufacture parts which consistently meet customer expectations while achieving established standards or cycle times for these parts. These responsibilities will be achieved by:

  • Setting Up CNC Lathes, including those having Live Tooling and Sub Spindles, using machining programs, customer prints, tool sheets, inspection measurement sheets, and other provided information
  • Working with Quality, have 1st pieces approved and ensure the process consistently meets customer specifications and expected production rates
  • Training other Lathe Operators to strengthen their skills and knowledge
  • As directed, manufacturing production parts to fulfill customer Orders
  • Being the 'Go To' resource for other Lathe Department Operators to troubleshoot and resolve process or mechanical issues
  • Following all safety policies and procedures
  • Keeping work areas clean and orderly and maintaining excellent housekeeping standards.
  • Understanding and following all policies and procedures within the company's AS9100 Rev D certified Quality Management System.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years experience setting up and operating CNC Lathes or Turning centers.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand complex blueprints and drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability in using various Inspection instruments, gages and pins to ensure that parts produced meet customer specifications

  • Train for 12-14 weeks for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)/National Board training/certification commissions.
  • 120 hours of on-the-job training with another Inspector to complete training process.
  • Perform new construction, repair, alteration and jurisdiction inspections of boilers and pressure vessels as required by the American Society of Mechanical Engineering Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (ASME Code) Sections III, and National Board Code including referenced construction codes and standards of our clients.
Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • High school diploma and equivalent (Military) work experience, or a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 3-5 years of boiler and/or high-pressure steam & water system maintenance/operation experience
  • 4+ years of mechanical experience with Boilers and Pressure Vessels in a power plant-Nuke or conventional MM/BT, or an SRO and/or a Steam PPWO/EOOW 3+ years
  • Navy Nuke EM or ET with a minimum of 3yrs qualified SRO experience
  • Quality Assurance inspections of mechanical equipment, water, and steam systems
  • Boiler and/or steam system maintenance and operation
  • Inspections on mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems
  • NBIC Boiler Inspector Qualification a plus
  • Insurance inspection service experience involving risk-based inspections and analysis
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office and web-based applications, Lotus Notes
  • Clean driving record and must be able to pass a background check.
