Technical Support Engineer

Northeast
US Navy, O-3

I began searching for a new career at the same time as my non-veteran brother-in-law, and we had drastically different experiences dealing with recruiting firms. He was treated somewhat poorly by the various placement agencies, so when I shared my ongoing experience Orion International, he was somewhat disbelieving. When I was reviewing my opportunities with him coming out of a hiring conference, he was dumbfounded. In his words, ‘Orion really is a professional organization. I wish I had a resource like that available to me. You really are lucky.’

I am three months into my new job as a Technical Support Engineer for a semiconductor test equipment manufacturer, and I feel very well-prepared. As a former Lieutenant in the Navy with Surface Warfare (nuclear) training, I had no experience in the semiconductor industry, but was hired with the assumption that I could be easily trained and would be largely self-directed.

At Orion, I dealt with the Midwest Region recruiter, Todd Phillips, who was awesome. I then decided to focus my search in the Western region (CA) and dealt primarily with Tim Duba, who did an excellent job, as well. I received offers in both regions, and transitioning my search from one region to the other was seamless.

Orion was engaged and aggressive in pursuing opportunities on my behalf. My recruiters were infinitely understanding, patient, and flexible. I truly believe that Orion is committed to placing veterans in positions that are of mutual benefit to both companies and former service members. In fact, their business depends on repeatedly satisfying stakeholders on both sides of a hiring agreement. Their proficiency in this endeavor enables them to offer a value-added service to both companies and individuals.
