Production Supervisor

Midwest
US Army, O-3

I separated from the military on October 15, 2010, and began working for an industrial tool company for over a year as a LEAN Coordinator. Previous to that, I was a Captain in the Logistics Corps. The leadership experience I gained, especially while deployed to Iraq, prepared me well for new civilian career I am in. Within leadership, key attributes such as communication, knowing when to be a leader and/or follower, driving excellent results, etc. have all prepared me to be successful know matter the job I have been tasked with.

Once I decided to change careers, I contacted Todd Phillips. He played a major role in making sure that I was not only placed in a job that I wanted, but one that fit my strengths. He ensured that my transition was smooth and painless and that I was going to be paid according to my abilities and prior work experience.

I had several other military recruiting agencies contact and work with me; however, Todd was the only recruiter that was able to successfully set me up with interviews that were located in a specific area of Minnesota I wanted to be in. Not only was he was able to work me into a hiring conference, but he was able to do this with very little time or notice. Todd did an excellent job, and I would suggest using his talents and services to any service member needing a job.

Todd lined up potential jobs with companies that fit my strengths and goals. Orion was able to do what several other military recruiting firms were not; find me a job. I know that Todd was busy, but he continued to search for jobs and communicate with me until I found a job that fit my goals and needs.

I currently hold a Production Supervisor role. There are several parallels between the military and this job:

  • Being a leader: As a supervisor, I make sure that my employees are taken care of, both personally and professionally. Their needs always come before my own. I also make sure that I am in compliance with all policies within the area, especially when it comes to safety.
  • Morale: I make sure that employees know that their work is appreciated and that they are doing a great job and vice versa if their performance is poor.
  • Communication: I promote communication and have an open-door policy.

I know that I have only been with Rosemount for 1 week; however, I really enjoy the job and the company that I am now part of. Orion found me a quality job in the specific area that I needed in a short amount of time. I couldn't be happier with how things turned out
