Maintenance Manager

West
US Navy, O-3

I began looking for employment in July 2009 after having worked in civilian positions since I left the Navy in February 2004. I had used Orion for a previous job, but before that I knew about them from the Navy's transition assistance program.

At Orion, I worked with JP Sniffen, Ken Rahn, and Jim Perdue. There was continuous communication and a very open dialogue in dealing with my career path. I feel I was treated extremely well and was given more than sufficient feedback.

Thanks to Orion, I am the Maintenance Manager of the Calpine Otay Mesa Energy Center.  I was a Lieutenant in the Navy, and my last position was Chief Engineer. The key area of my background that is essential in my new career is overseeing a robust maintenance program. The difference in my current position is the significantly less number of personnel. Other parallels to my military career include a large maintenance budget and a large degree of autonomy.

Having used other recruiting agencies as a customer and job seeker, I feel Orion has lived up to and exceeded their reputation and my expectation. I would tell potential job seekers, as well as companies, not to wait for a conference to touch basis with Orion; especially now, as there are job opportunities and very qualified personnel to fill them at any given time.
