Site Operations Manager

Northeast
US Army, O-3

After Baghdad, civilian life moves pretty slowly.  My time working with contractors, sister units (from all services), and Iraqis has made me fairly flexible.  In my new position as a Site Operations Manager at QTG, I work with supply chain, union workers, management teams, and independent distributors.  Coming from a military background allowed me to see the various wishes different groups bring into a conversation and adjust to those notions.  That has proved very valuable in the early days of my new job.

Aside from what I mentioned above, there are other similarities in my new position to that I held in the military.  I manage union employees, who bear a resemblance to my former soldiers, and  I work daily with a group of managers to lower costs and prevent thefts. (This is basically an officer corps.)  We report to managers at the corporate level, who are much like the Colonels and Generals of my Army days.  I feel like I am doing much the same job in a much nicer place.

Mike Wood was my Orion recruiter, and DJ Holder helped in brokering the deal with my new employer.  Both were professional, helpful, and results-oriented.  I had no complaints during the entire process, and I was always well informed.

I was sent on one interview for a direct placement.  I got that job. Mike and DJ were straight forward and helpful.  They did not try to talk me into something I didn't want to do.  They brought me a great opportunity, and I took it. Many thanks to Mike and DJ!  It is nice to have a steady job in an unsteady economy.  I truly appreciate the help!
