I used Orion International on two separate occasions in my professional career as a candidate and an additional two times as a hiring manager searching for a candidate. During my most recent encounter with Orion, as with all my encounters with them, I was incredibly impressed with the professionalism and consistent personal attention I received. I was always kept in the loop and was responded to within 24 hours either by phone or email. In short, I had incredible peace of mind that Bill Fitzgerald and the team at Orion understood the types of employment and employers I was looking for, especially with my diverse work experiences and advanced education.

I had my first interview with Cleanscapes at the November Seattle hiring conference and was blown away by the values of the company and how well it aligned with my own personal and professional values. I am now a Field Route Manager (Special Events) for Cleanscapes. The hiring conference was the perfect venue to not only meet the Orion staff and prospective employers, but to connect with other Orion candidates and benefit from shared experiences and a variety of perspectives and feedback.

Honestly, I never gave a second thought to working in the sanitation/waste management field before Orion presented Cleanscapes to me. However, Cleanscapes' progressive and sustainable approach to waste management and growing and attracting employee talent appealed to me greatly.

I also liked that Orion was open to a variety of resume formats (skill-based) versus the standard resume (experience-based) endorsed by many military recruiting firms. The latter tend to read like a military proficiency/evaluation report—full of jargon—and are difficult for civilians to understand. I submitted a resume which strayed from this formula, as it was a skill-based resume, and it was approved and shared with prospective employers. I was appreciative of Orion keeping an open mind and not rigidly adhering to a "one size fits all" approach. To me, this demonstrated a progressive organization committed to continuous improvement and personal attention of its clients.

Orion outclassed and outperformed their competition in terms of follow-through, personal attention, and professionalism. Although I tried to keep an open mind by consulting with various military recruiting companies, I was always came back to Orion, because they have been the most consistent in follow-through with phone calls and initiating contact with me. Unlike other agencies, I never felt like a number or a means to a recruiting quota/commission with Orion.

Having recruiters/administrative staff who are veterans themselves really helped me feel understood as I made these two significant transitions in my personal and professional career. Not only did I have two positive experiences as a candidate, but I chose to use Orion as a hiring manager on two separate occasions. I am extremely impressed by the caliber of candidates and organizations Orion attracts.
