Director of Transportation

Northeast
US Marine Corps, O-3

I served as a Marine reserve Captain on assignment with Army Special Forces in South America and came off demobilization in December 2007. I began my job search in October 2007 and learned of Orion International from a friend that was transitioning out of the military.
Todd Phillips, from the Cincinnati office, was instrumental in developing my skills for the most success during the job process. The recruiters I worked with, including Chris Hurst, treated me with fairness and were truly concerned with placing me with the right opportunity.

Through Orion, I obtained a Transportation Manager position in the leadership development program at MAINES Paper & Food Service Incorporated. The company’s goal is to promote me to the Director level in six to eight months. It is a good starting position that will help me learn the basics and then advance into other areas, such as Sales/Marketing and other senior operational roles. I am in charge of five supervisors and 70 personnel. My job is allowing me to use the leadership skills I developed in the military to effect change and make profits for the company.

Orion was better than other recruiting agencies, because they truly are trying to find the best fit. They look at culture and advancement and are very approachable. I was able to grow personally and professionally, because Orion works with you like an entrepreneur would. I never got the impression that I was just another number. For such a large organization, the level of professional personal attention was impressive.
