Store Manager

Midwest
US Army, O-3

I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in May 2005 with a BA in Philosophy. While on Active Duty, I received my MBA from Capella University. My ETS date was in December 2008, but I made initial contact with Orion International while still in Iraq around February 2008. I actively began my search in September and began interviewing in October 2008.

I was incredibly pleased with the interaction I had with my recruiter. He was patient with me when I was unable to be reached for communication for a month. He has a great personality that was easy to interact with. I felt he completely understood what I was looking for and got me connected with account managers for positions that I would have liked. Several other companies I talked to sent me typical positions that I was not interested in despite how many times I told them ‘no’. If I said I was not interested in a position, he understood that.

I did not attend any hiring conferences with Orion but was sent positions and company briefs from my recruiter and attended an interview with Wal-Mart. The position I accepted with them will be in the Leadership Development Program. This program will train me to take a Store Manager position upon completion. The experience and training this position will offer me is exactly what I was looking for. It will prepare me for several positions in the future.

In comparison to other recruiting firms that I worked with, Orion gave me the best experience. The recruiters were very attentive. The other companies did not offer me any real positions, and they were all talk, with no real results.
